New Ships - What could you do WITHOUT?

What you don't like could be someone's else greatest thing on the ship. For me since I don't have money coming out of my butt I could do without concierge rooms and the spa. But of course it will never happen and I don't want it to happen as lots of people loves them things.

Yea the kids clubs are in the middle of the ship.

So lets replace them with more cabins and have less kids in the clubs!

Oh wait that means the pool decks will be even more crowded?!:crazy2:

I agree on Vanellopes, even though we love it! Shutters is an absolute waste, but that is because I only buy 2 pictures a cruise, IF that. We LOVE Pink, but I think I love it because we are usually there with only another couple if that! LOL

But again why 2 theaters? With the On-demand, Funnelvision, and the Walt Theater couldn't they combine the use of the movie theater in the Walt Theater? Other than the 2 nightly live shows , the occasional shopping or other seminar, muster drill space and excursion meeting place, I don't recall any other time the theater is used. If they scheduled Movies in there when not in use they could take the Buena Vista and make into something awesome. A new Restaurant, an adult kids club, anything.

Because the performers need the Walt Disney during the daytime for rehearsals, and it is also used at times for crew meetings.

Art gallery (no one was ever in there that I noticed), future cruise/vacation booking area (couldn't this info be on the stateroom TV and one books onboard via an app or drop a card in a box of some sort), Vanellope's (underutilized and too many free sweet options already), Shutters (photos should be able to be viewed/ordered on stateroom TV or via app), bow of ship that currently is for teens should be reconfigured as the "adult only" area with pool and give the teens the mid ship area with all the walk thru traffic.

Get rid of Skyline and add more space to the Tube.

I agree about Oh La La. I have done a tasting in there and it's pretty, but no one is usually in there. I've seen some private functions going on, but nothing else.

I agree that Shutters is a waste of space. Cool concept though.

Great idea

Just read through a great 10 page thread on all the things that people wanted to see on the new ships. Lots of great and exciting ideas. But the reality is that at only another 5000GT bigger than the Dream class ships, there won't be room to add things unless you take away something else? So thinking of the Dream/Fantasy ships...what would you take away to add all these new exciting things?

For me? I'd eliminate some of the adult only spaces. Combine satellite falls and the quiet cove, and get rid of some of the nightclub spaces. These just are of little use to me when I'm cruising with my family.

I'd remove the kids club and make it something for adults only... because I don't have kids. :P

All jokes apart...

I'm underwhelmed with the satellite falls. I would put another pool or jacuzzi instead.

I would replace one of the bars with a pool and bowling place... although I'm not sure of the results when the sea is mad. Lol

Personally, I could do without the whole concierge area. I have no ambitions to travel in concierge on a cruise ship and would prefer if that space would be available to all cruises. No chance that Disney would do that though, but this is what I personally could do without on the ship! ;)

Yes! I agree with most here except for the pool situation. The secluded vibe pool is great for the teens, but they do have to fix the walk thru problem with the dream/fantasy adult pool. The wonder/magic adult pool doesn't feel like such a thoroughfare, that needs to be adjusted for the new ships. I also like the art gallery, but don't really think it's something that needs to stay. I also wish the dream class had a dedicated piano bar, love the one on the old ships!

I vote to get rid of the art gallery. We do end up wandering in there once or twice a cruise but no way in a million years would I spend money to buy art on a ship.

Completely agree. I can't believe I didn't think of this when I replied earlier. It's something I just don't get...why is an art gallery on every ship of every cruise line?

Shutters, definitely.

I'd also remove the columns in the tube. Royal's ships have wide open spaces without columns, Disney should copy this. Disney should also push out the superstructure to be the same width as the hull, again like Royal has done on most of their newer ships. This would give an extra ~15-20 ft of width above deck 4 and give you a better view from the balconies.

Art Gallery and Shutters. I think they might even sell more pictures if it was accessible on the stateroom TV because then people wouldn't have to make the "trip" to shutters to see the pictures. And if they did an Art Event in a club during the day like some other cruise lines do then they can still make money on the art if they'd like without taking up the space on the ship. Then serious Art buyers would go and leave that space for something fun for the rest of us. :)

Get rid of "match your mate" and come up with something new. My kids are moving into their teen years, and on our last cruise I was so incredibly bored. My kids were excluded from trivia games in the Edge because they new the answers to the questions. Why alienate your platinum cruisers even if they are kids. How hard is it to come up with new trivia questions? I would totally revamp the shows, activities, and the shows that go on in the dining room. I would get rid of the old platinum perks and add some new ones. I would get rid of having to ask for soap and conditioner..... with what DCL charges I shouldn't have to ask. I would also get rid of the whole "I need a excellent rating in the dining room thing". It annoys me so much I don't fill out the survey anymore. Most of all I would stop charging double what similar cruiselines charge or nobody's going to make it to platinum anymore.
