Had a question for those who go when pregnant... I just found out that we are expecting our first after many years of trying. If all goes well I will be 4.5 months during our next planned trip down. It is a girls only trip, just me and my mother in law. Will it be worth the trip? We would be driving from richmond va , and I would be driving. Not sure if we would be able to afford a stopover in South Carolina or Georgia. We are also going a)to take advantage of free dining, and b) to get to experience Halloween at magic kingdom and universal studios. I know I would cancel the Universal Stuidos since I wouldn't be able to do the mazes or any of the rides, except maybe et... Any suggestions? Should I just put it on hold until the little bean arrives? Or is it still fun? Thank you

4.5 months is a good time to travel. Past the morning sickness, but not so large that you don't feel awkward. First of all talk to your Dr. He or She knows you and can give you the best advice medically speaking at least. Disney is great in that you can still do most of the rides and shows. But all in all comes down to how you feel personally about traveling pregnant. I have a history of miscarriages, so I tend to stick very close to home when pregnant. If you feel good and not worried about traveling while pregnant, I say go for it and enjoy.

Well it became "official" last night! Plane tickets...check, booked at AoA....check, Park tickets...get them in Tampa! Wait....how many days left?! Oh Man!!!!
This is a special trip for my family. My wife was diagnosed with cancer last July. We were actually starting to plan a trip to Disney in Feb utilizing the military discounts that Disney has been so generous with (please keep doing it Disney!), when we found out the news. As you can imagine, everything came to a halt and we had other things to think about. The good news is, she is in complete remission! She was a stage 4 level! No cancer found in multiple tests! 10 months of chemo and a lot of praying, she is now cancer free! So....we beat cancer, what are you going to do now....GO TO DISNEY!
If you check out my past threads, we took our kids (well, my son was 6 months old, so he stayed at ASMu with grammy most of the time) for their first time! What a magical time it was! Now, we are going and celebrating life! We are taking my sister this time to experience the magic with us. DD will be 10 and DS will be 2 (still probably won't remember anything, so that is our excuse to plan one for him when he is older...with more trips in between of course!). You don't think about what you have until you lose it. I've been fortunate NOT to have lost her, so for me the most magical moment will be just being with my family! So, on to other things, trip details.....we will arrive 7 Sept and check out will be 13 Sept and we are staying at the Art of Animation! Cars family suite! I'm not sure who is more excited me or the kids. My DS (2) absolutely loves CARS! Mater is his favorite, so getting the CARS family suite was actually my DD idea! I think she is trying for dibs on the Mater bed! Anyway, we are going to have some non park time too this time. Sitting by the pool not doing anything? After 20 years in the AirForce, and now working for NOAA/National Weather Service, I'm not sure I'll know how to do that! So there we are, 7 Sept-13 Sept staying at AoA! Can't wait! So if there are any other cancer conquers going to be there at the same time, drop us line, maybe we could meet up somewhere and celebrate life!!!!!
:woohoo:

WooHoo!!!:banana::banana: Happy dance all the way and congrats! I can't think of anywhere better to celebrate such fantastic news and be with your family. Enjoy every minute!

Thank you Marblies! It will be magical no matter what happens! Hey, we noticed you have stayed at AMU and AoA. We stayed at ASMu 2 years ago with my mom (our then 6 month old stayed with her in the room most of the time), and we really liked the rooms. We are staying at AoA in the Cars Suites this time. This was my DD idea! She knows her little brother loves cars and thought we would all enjoy that theme instead of Lion King. So, any tips or suggestions? DD will be 10 and DS will be 2. Thanks!

Congrats on your wife beating cancer!!

On our trip, we added a day to our trip and it was actually the DH's idea. Our trip dates are now 9/8 - 9/14/13.

Thank you letthewookiewin (love that!). This trip will be even more special because of this fact. EVERY minute DOES and will be special. That's funny, one day shift from our time there! We are still working out the parks and which days to go. Have you ever been during this time of year? Any suggestions?

Cars is probably my least favorite movie(s), but the theming at the resort is incredible and the photo ops night and day are not to be missed!
First off - try the surf and surf burger - AMAZING! Also, you can take advantage of POP being just across the bridge and ride their buses home if the AoA lines are too long. Your DD may enjoy the free drawing classes offered in the lobby. Mine did and they are in their 20's! The 20 min classes really are geared to all ages.

Oh yeah, I can see all of us doing lots of pics at AoA! Surf and Surf! I have heard a lot about that and can not wait to try one! From what I have read, the food at AoA is one of the best. I have also heard about the drawing class. So any age can do it? My favorite character is Donald....that would be cool to draw him myself and take it home. My DD would LOVE to do that too. I'm thinking about framing her picture and hanging it in her room. Heck, I'm going to talk the whole family into doing it! O.K., I'm getting excitied again...sorry. Thanks for the advice....it has been added to our trip notebook!

I wish I did have some suggestions. This will be our first time being there in September.

Booked our vacation about a week ago and joined the board today. September 14-19. Was able to get all our ADR just like I wanted. Still need to call for BBB. Very excited! :tink:

Hubby and I hope to be there for our 25th anniversary Sept 3 and get in on the free dining. He is currently in ICU, but is improving everyday and talks about our trip to Florida

Darnheather, congrats on your trip! My wife called Saturday to make a BBB res. for DD. Didn't sound like they were too booked up. We got our first time we wanted, so should be a smooth time getting your BBB time.

:grouphug: I love your positive attitude! Hospitalization is rough and it's great to have something special to look forward to. Trip to Disney with FD is pretty special. Prayers for a quick recovery.

Your first trip to WDW, how fun! What restaurants did you select?

bigmac5, our thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery for your husband. And congrats on an upcoming 25 years! :thumbsup2 Ours is in 2015 and we were thinking of doing a Disney thing too...our honeymoon was at Disney for a week and then a Disney cruise!

Not my first trip, just my first in 20 years! We're leaving Friday night and driving straight through should be there for rope drop or close to it on Saturday morning.

Night 1: Tony's Town Square (early dinner then either more park or early bedtime depending on kids and spouse)
Night 2: 1900 Park Fare Character Dinner
Night 3: The Wave
Night 4: Akershus Character Dinner
Night 5: Kona Cafe

OOPS, my bad. Welcome back then. :yay:
Yummo, I had the Spicy seared tuna with crispy sushi roll last trip at Kona and it was maybe the best thing I have ever eaten on Disney property.

No problem. Everything has changed so much I feel like a total newbie. I've only been to Epcot once and never been to AK or HS.

Then here is to both of our families having an awesome time! It will be cool to read both our trip reports.

I'm sure we will!! My DH suggested adding another day to the WDW part of our trip, and I certainly wasn't going to say no to that. Now we are thinking about checking into the Swan the night before we check into the AKL.

I know if we are at a WDW resort the night before we check into the AKL, they will transfer our luggage to the AKL. Does anyone know if they will do this if we stay at the Swan?
