There are 2 separate resort launches: one for GF & Poly, separate launch for CR & WL. To get from Poly to CR, you would indeed have to transfer to a different launch at MK or walk from there. Yes, it looks like you would have to go thru the new security at the launch landing. Probably quicker to take the monorail.

When we stayed at WL 2.5 yrs ago there were two docks at WL. One for MK (went directly there and back) and one to go to CR or FW (ran in a loop). So to access MK by boat from CR you'd have to take one boat to WL get off and wait in line on the other side of dock to take a second boat to MK. I just looked at the CR amenities on the Disney website and it only says you can get to FW and WL from the CR via "water taxi"

****I believe I saw a post from a different poster earlier in this thread indicating there was boat service to CR from MK so I just wanted to clear up the confusion-it is possible but would take a while with the need to transfer boats.

Thank you both for the info. I guess we will stick with the monorail, I'm sure the kids will like that just as much as the boat.

Went back through the security via bus this afternoon around 5pm. Was waved in with no bags, but had an overzealous CM at the metal detector. Hubs was patted down because of a package of hand wipes in his pocket

Question for folks who don't drive or take Disney Transportation in. I'm planning to Uber into Magic Kingdom. Should I tell my drive to drop me off at Ticket and transportation center or at the Contemporary and walk from there? I want to experience the shortest wait because it is going to be a partial day for me on Easter.

Drop off at Contemp. Uber can drop you off a little beyond the stoplight/intersection where the CM entrance/driveway is without having to drive into Contemp; then you'll just cut through the CM parking to the intersection.

contemporary and walk is the fastest. you can get there in the time it'll take for a monorail or ferry to show up at ttc and then you still have the ride around the lake.

One other option would be drop off at GF and take the monorail, it's 1 stop vs, several from CR. Depends on if you want to walk or not walk

Live Report
Parked at mk and walked to ttc, obviously being so early there was no wait. Huge security cm meeting, about 30 of them was taking place. 8 of the 12 security check tables were open for bag check. There is a no bags line
Got checked and through metal detectors in less than a minute but again, it was early (7:20)
Could've boarded the resort monorail but decided to walk to the Polynesian. One cm, no metal detector, no wand and no table, was checking bags from people coming from the Poly to the ttc.
Caught the monorail at the poly, bag check at the monorail with the left side available for no bags, one metal detector

Great info. Curious to see what the plans are for monorail riders to Epcot. Didn't someone say right now you go through security again after you reach Epcot? It sure needs to be positioned so that bus or car guests go through but not monorail since they've been scanned already

Yes, hopefully they will eventually move the Epcot bus bag check closer to the bus stops so that the Epcot monorail exit is in the secure zone.(but I can't recall where the tram exit is)

Usually we are fine since the luggage lockers are near the buses but on that trip, our flight got cancelled that night so we ended up taking the monorail over to the Poly. DH had to bring our bags through security to get to the monorail. So now I'm not sure what I read about Epcot and those arriving via monorail. Surely I misunderstood what I read

The Epcot monorail entrance (going to TTC) IS in the secure zone. Once you are securely in Epcot, you will be able to monorail to MK without needing another bag check

But the Epcot monorail exit is out if the secure zone... and needs a security check before you can enter Epcot.

I was just coming to update my post, I remembered this exact thing, they don't exit/enter at the same place.

On the resort monorail now at mk station, headed to epcot via monorail. I'll report back
Leaving mk the entrance was full but not packed if that makes sense. Without the bag check there so close to the tapatiles it all looks more manageable
Off topic: huge stage and screens are on town square for the Ant and Dec taping Saturday night

Did you ask security about the ability to take things banned at the parks onto the monorail when traveling to another monorail resort, not to a park? Things like selfie sticks?
