New Security Measures for MK Guests; UPDATES: Page 12 - Post 222; Live Reports - Pgs. 18-20

Live update
Well, asked the " if let's say I'm staying at the contemporary and taking the monorail to Grand floridian and buy a bottle of wine or have a selfie stick and I'm going back to the contemporary am i allowed to bring it into the monorail? Also what's preventing me from getting off at mk and bringing it inside the park?
Here are the answers:
Poly monorail station, regular blue shirt security cm: you can take your selfie stick/ wine back to the Contempo. (Shrugs) nothing is keeping you from going into mk with it.
Poly monorail station, manager plain clothes checking out how security is working, i approach, tell her i love the new security checks but have a question (ask same question )
She tells me it's ok to bring wine on the monorail because they package it to be secured, i ask about disembarking at mk...she immediately says, no that's not allowed in the park or selfie stick. I say, but no one is checking there. . . She paused for a while. .. you can bring it to guest relations they'll hold it for you and if you open the wine inside or use the stick they will take it

Grand floridian monorail station: this security person actually tells me my mini tripod is not allowed in the park ( see my previous post on that) i explain is not a selfie stick is a tripod and what if i won't be going into the park, if i was going back to the contemporary ( and ask the main question)
She looks at me and it dawns on her the loophole, she says "you're not supposed to bring those items into the parks"

So, in review, this is a loophole and most people will probably one the rule but some will also break it
And this concludes my live report for the day, pictures to be posted one i get back home

This is what I believe will be the case. They'll let it on, for the most part (see your tripod for an example of CM that can take things to the nth degree) and if someone does get off at MK with it and does take it out in MK, they'll get it taken away, if seen (and if the CM feels like it). I do think the numbers who will use this loophole to get contraband in to MK is small.

I understand your concern on this matter. However, as far as undermining what Disney is trying to do...the thing is what yulilin3 is providing is no different than what any guest can do. However yulilin3 isn't posting that security guards are looking for this type of behavior or that type of behavior. I'm not really certain how the live updating is any different than knowing how airport security is;we know exactly what to do when going through security like the order of things-get id checked, take things off our person and out of our bags like we are supposed to, go through machine, depending on things may get a pat down, etc. However, we only know certain things TSA looks out for and not every tiny security detail.
You explained it very well. Knowing they have security isn't a secret. Nothing reported here is a risk

I wonder how they are going to close that loophole and how long it will take.

You're a rockstar! Thanks for the report.

And it seems like Josh from EasyWDW has similar concerns when he stated this - "I don’t like to discuss security protocol much because I “feel” like it undermines what they’re trying to do, but come April 3rd, we’re going to see a lot of changes with how Disney screens guests."
Kinda silly if you ask me. Anyone seriously considering doing something will research security. A single visit to the parks in the morning will tell you all that you need to know - something that these folks would do to verify anything that they might have read elsewhere (including the Dis).

So, no, it doesn't compromise Disney's security in any way since nothing that is not clearly visible is being exposed in this discussion.

Thank you

Went back through the security via bus this afternoon around 5pm. Was waved in with no bags, but had an overzealous CM at the metal detector. Hubs was patted down because of a package of hand wipes in his pocket
:lmao:

I'll mention this as it may affect others. I use wipes for my glasses and they are in little foil pouches. These will set off the metal detectors so put them in the bowl as you go through. I had never even considered that they would be the cause so my first time through took some time to figure out. The CM said they see them all the time (this was at DL). Just an FYI to anyone who carries anything in packages like that.

I would NEVER do anything to jeopardize security at the parks. What I'm reporting is what everyone is experiencing.
Being a long time local and ap holder i can now pretty easily pinpoint undercover security but will never make public where i saw them, what they wear, what to look for.
My live reporting is to give everyone a heads up on what to expect when they are here
Pretty simple tips for security check to go faster:
Don't have anything from the not allowed list
Have all your bags off of your body and open all zippers and pockets
If you have a pretty packed backpack, take things out before getting to the table so they can check it faster
Take all contents out from your pockets, coins, cellphones, celebration buttons, to put in the tray and go faster through metal detector

Yep and it's not even the wine that is the problem. It's the selfie sticks. I think people will break those out any time they can.
Yea, I can see those being a bigger problem than wine. Who really wants to haul around a bottle of wine anyway? Talk about a PITA
Selfie sticks, bigger potential for use. Thankfully, CM are also more trained to look for, and address, anyone using one. For the most part at least. If one decides to let it go, it's unlikely 2 will

Despite the wailing of the nervous Nellies, you are in fact ADDING to security at the parks. The more informed guests are about the process the smoother it will go for everyone. Less time spent in line, less backups outside security, heck if I was there I'd pin a medal on your chest (or at least a Disney Pin) and give you a hardy handshake. Thanks.

Btw: ever since the selfie stick ban i still see at least one selfie stick out each time I'm in the park.
Cm now approach and ask for people to put them away, some cm, if they are not doing anything will walk you to guest relations to turn it in
Someone had one out on BTMRR last time I was on that. They said several times during the ride to put it away over the speakers but I think they were from out of the country and didn't understand. There was a manager waiting for him as the train approached the station.

I agree. I did the CP and were more in the know about security than the average guest. Disney is very, very safe and takes the safety of their guests seriously. If there is an incident, the blue shirts that you see at bag check are not the ones that respond, I know as we had a few issues that we needed them for. Disney has various levels of security and I am very happy they do.

I don't put much in my pockets, but what I do have (keys, wallet, watch, cellphone) goes in my backpack in a zip loc bag. No having to fumble to put everything in a tray, I just hand them my bag and walk through. That's actually what I do at the airport.

Thanks for the updates yulilin3!

picture time...most of these you have already seen

Reading through all the pages, a few people have mentioned pat downs. How long has disney been doing pat downs? I understand the bag checks and metal detector, but honestly the thought of a possible patdown makes me feel uneasy. I know it can happen with TSA but that's possibly twice in a trip. With disney , because we are afternoon break type people, the possibility increasing greatly with us passing through security 15 -20 times.
