New Security Measures for MK Guests; UPDATES: Page 12 - Post 222; Live Reports - Pgs. 18-20

Yes, agreed. I'm just thinking through the logistics. Speculating - If I am checked getting on the bus to MK at my resort, I can bypass security at the MK. Right now if I leave MK and get on a bus to AK, I have to go through security again at AK. If security checks are conducted getting on to a bus, then I can bypass security at AK too which is what the express bus provides. BUT the bus lines would be nuts.

I think I am over-thinking this LOL and will just wait to hear what happens!

They still check you once when using the express transportation.

if you are taking the monorail from TTC to epcot, are you screened at TTC or epcot? it would be nice if they did all the MK/Epcot monorail screening at TTC so guests arriving at the monorail can go straight to the gate.

i wonder too if now that you are screened before getting on the MK express or resort monorails, will they no longer require us to walk way down that second ramp at MK entrance? Not the ramp from the monorail station.... but the second half of the ramp that goes down by the boat docks to funnel everyone to the screening area, instead of turning left and going right to the gate.

This is only for MK. If you arrive at Epcot you go through their screening like normal

Will guests who walk to MK from the Contemporary still be screened at MK along with those arriving by bus?

Will trash cans be added back to the MK monorail platform?:duck:

I'm guessing riders using the monorail from EPCOT will have to go through screening at TTC if they want to board MK transportation there and riders boarding the EPCOT monorail at TTC will not go through screening???

Aw shucks, this means no more mad dashes to catch the ferry or monorail . I just hope it doesn't create too much of a log jam at TTC, especially in the mornings :hyper:....... :bored:.......:faint:

I'm curious what they'll have set up for guests who arrive via boat.

There is a new white "tent" at the end of the dock at mk, looks like there will be a separate scan or you can't get off the dock. Ferry could go either way as the exit when crowded would be directly into the new security area and everyone keeps saying monorail at ttc and not a ttc in general. My thought is a small check as you get onto the resort or mk loop and ferry is getting checked at MK.

I can't see them having security at the resort dock. You can just go for a boat ride without ever going to the park can't you? I would think anybody walking or boating would go through where the busers do. But considering where some of the boat docks at MK are that would be kind inconvenient if you have to go down by the bus stop.

Thinking about it more while it would be nice to not have everyone jam packed int he same area for security I just don't get the logistics.

How do they know who arrived via each transport? Where will the security screening for buses be located? etc...

I think we all know it will. Epcot's security line from the parking lot this morning at 9:20 was a good 15 minutes to get through. It would help immensely if each line had their own metal detector to go through, instead of sharing.

It seems that Disney may be moving to a new overall model. The least confusing for guests would seem to be point of entry - so wherever the guest is originating will be security checks, buses, T&T, monorails, boats. Guests in parks other than the MK that drive would be subject to traditional checks prior to the tapstiles.

How that would be managed park to park, etc. would remain to be seen.

I don't understand though, will I have to go through security every time i use the monorail while staying at Polynesian, even if not going to MK but rather to dinner at other resort?
I'm staying at grand Floridian my next trip. I'm upset that I will have to go through security just to ride over to the contemporary for dinner??? Takes the fun out of staying at a monorail resort to me.

You can also ride the resort monorail loop without going to a park, but it sounds like you will be screened before getting on the monorail, regardless of your final destination. They could do the same for the boats.

Frankly, I have always been concerned with the large crowds outside security being a vulnerability and at times have even been nervous, and I'm someone who is in NYC frequently.

I don't know if the changes will make an impact, or if it is theater, but I do appreciate the efforts to improve.

Do you need to go into epcot and MK in order to use the monorail?

Otherwise, what would be the point of checking monorail guests at poly, contemporary and grand floridian?

A person could drive to MK or epcot and then go onto the monorail without ever being checked. Do i have it wrong?

Also, i do hope they have a plan for ferry guests from resorts or that is another loophole. if theyre going to go through all this, having loopholes seems silly.

This is to help alleviate those crowds at the security check points.
