Good morning, all! I am completely behind, but  to everyone, as it seems like we all need it! Danielle, how awful, just when they were getting ready for the empty nest! T, that poor child!!! That is terrible!!!

So Mary, did ya have a good time at the Luau?

I have not been on even to lurk since Friday morning! that is WAY too long!!! I went back to the dr on Friday afternoon for my back, he says I have a brand new damaged disc between L5 and S1 this time and it is pushing my spine sideways to the right, which is causing the pain and the weakness in my right leg too. He is sending me for an MRI so they can get a better picture that the xray was giving, and then we will look into a cortizone injection first, if that doesn't work, he wants to discuss surgery!:scared1:

Other than that, my sis got her new horse on Saturday, so the girls got to spend Sunday afternoon taking turns being led around on him. He is saddle broke, but not rein trained yet, so we are sticking with a lead rope for the little ones at this point. He is a 5 year old Morgan, sorrel with black mane and tail. Very nice guy, only about 15 1/2 hands tall, but really broadbacked, which I guess is a Morgan trait. So that was the good news, unfortunately yesterday, they found out that my bil is being laid off, he works for ConAgra in the IT department, I think with the edi team, and their entire department is being outsourced to India.:headache: So they are letting him and the rest of his group go, last day July 16. He will get severance and all, but still very scary!

holy cow!!! I am soooooooooooo far behind.

Mary :wave2: how was your time in prison?

Teo! glad to see you here!

Way to go Lizzy!!

Danielle  I'm so sorry about your friend

T.... that poor kid.

Kristi  my cousin had surgery a few months ago. She put it off for so long, she was confined to the couch for a few weeks until they could get everything scheduled.
Sorry to hear about BIL.

darn...now I forget what else I read.

Wow lots going on!!!! Yes I had a good time--thanks. Sorry about your back! Any chance that's what was causing the headaches? Hope things get straightened out without surgery. How cool about the horse. So sorry about your bil!

How wonderful I am! :teeth:

Please send prayers for my friend Sue and her family. I got a call about an hour ago that her husband was killed in a boating accident this afternoon. Their son is getting married in June, they just got the house remodeled for their "just the two of us" time of life, and they were making plans for retirement in the next year or two. Life is so tenuous! Even if your husband(or wife, or child, or parent) seems like a PITA today, think of Sue and Scott and give your loved ones an extra hug. :sad1:
Wow, so terrilbe. :sad2:

  That is just horrible.. Life is just too short. I know the kid Anthony plays hockey with (the one we took to Florida with us this summer and his grandparents are raising him) Well they found his mother dead the other day. I feel so bad for the kid.. He never really got to know his mother. They believe it was a drug overdose but none the less its hard.
Poor child.... With people like you and his grandparents around hopefully he'll be ok.

OMG T...I haven't been on in a week and this is the first post I read. That is awful. I feel so bad for him....I know his grandmother is raising him, but it is still just too horrible. Poor kid. Hugs to you.

I have a lot to catch up on...I've been to crazey. I was just popping on to say hi and let you know I am always thinking of my friends:flower3:

WELCOME BACK!!!! Hope DC was fun!!!!:thumbsup2

I hope the back thing goes ok - I was able to get by with the steriod shots for years. They are not fun to get but IF they work, they work well...at least for a while. Plus, some of the surgeries they do now are not too bad - they can do a lot of them laproscopically!:thumbsup2

Horse - how COOL!!!!!!:yay: And hope the BIL can find a new job quickly :sad2: ...SO not fun.

Yes, it is my current position that the back is the main trigger to the headaches. Hopefully the shot (which is I am told basically like an epidural) will take care of it.

Kelly?? Aren't you supposed to be sleeping??
Thanks for the hugs, though!! :)

DEFINATELY can....are you secretly a doctor???;) That pressing on the nerves can have all sorts of ramifications ALL over the body.

Well....Long time no see!

oooh we are playing dr? I wanna be the mean receptionist!

Ok.....in the interest of FULL disclosure here, I do think its only fair that I tell you that it is not very much like getting an epidual to me... I guess it KIND OF is if you think of an epidural like a nice stroll thru the park and getting a spinal steriod shot like getting mugged in the park?:confused3

Oh, I'm really sorry....I shouldnt have said that....but I do think that patients have a right to know what they are getting into; but it's really not THAT bad. If you've ever had a spinal tap I'd say its more like that than an epidural. I found the main thing is to have someone who's done alot of them RECENTLY. The only one I had be especially bad was when the resident hadn't done one yet....DONT let them do that to you.:) And if the nurse offers to hold your hand - let her (I wish I could come and hold it for you too.:goodvibes ) It will be fine and the relief it provides will be well worth it.:thumbsup2

No, but I might have played doctor a few times! :rolleyes1 :teeth:

:rotfl:
:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

:scared1: And I was afraid to get an epidural:lmao:
:grouphug: For Kristi!

Sounds like hes had a rough time. Ive heard of his condition but really dont know a lot about it. My kid was severely lactose intolerant. Couldnt even eat foods with milk fat in them. I think it has added to her risk for broken bones. She has a hyperflexivity issue too which means her joints and bones do not have the same ridgid protection most do. All in all though neither do not cause a lot of trouble unless she wants to hit a volleyball, or fall off something :)

Yeah it is fun & genetic. He had 10 surgeries in 2 years so that messed up his college. I think Jacqueline's DD has something with her joints too. Part of the medical stuff she was trying to get medical clearence on for college.

Thanks Kat!

LizzY worked at Healthy kids day for the Y and I was wondering about that poster of your DD. DO we get to see it?

Also, some Mama braggi here ... At our YMCA annual Dinner on Thursday night LizzY is going to get the "Youth Leader of the Year" Award!:cheer2:

to find out if they did the poster for Penny's. And yeah, I was in the pool area, guarding, answering questions for Healthy kids day. And yeah for Lizzy on the youth leader award!

 getting off work to go to work. At least tonight is adults. They are so fun and really cute trying to get over the fear of the water. Wonder how many new bruises I'll have tonight from the clutching!

My kids are home today.... no sleep for me.

Hope that works!

Now see, on the one hand I am glad to know, but on the other hand:scared1:
I HATED the epidural I had with Catie, afterwards I said if I had more kids I would rather have labor without the epidural cause the stupid thing hurt so bad to get it and it didn't really work for me(made my outside numb, but I still felt ALL the internal muscle cramping, etc). So its much worse than that, huh?? Eeps! But it is still better than surgery, so I will do it anyway. We have a local back pain center place that the dr sends patients to that does these all day every day.
