New School Lunches

I would have put the olives on the salad with a creamy white dressing.

Is this the picture? I saw it in USA Today. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...ew-lunch-routine-reopened-schools/3336490001/

I agree that looks nasty.

Eww! The list sounded so much more appealing than the photo. :crazy2:

Me too. I couldn't understand where the "mismatch" was coming from. Olives are a great addition to both salad and pizza so it seems like a logical combo to me.

I also know lots of people including young children who eat olives alone as a snack.

I am very familiar with school breakfasts and lunches as I have three teachers in my family and I have worked in schools.
What bothers me most is that in our zeal to provide healthy meals we remove all taste (no butter, no salt, no sugar etc.). Most of the children in the schools where my family teach are living at poverty level or very near. They are hungry but still do not eat the food because some of it is downright gross. I have tasted a lot of it so I know firsthand. I would rather they eat a little fat or sugar than refuse the food and not eat at all.
