New Savanna at AKL

I was reading on allears that the new savanna will not be open until September...Has that date been changed? We were really hoping to see the new okapi in July

It is actually part of the new DVC building (Kidani), the section that opens in September. I don't think you will be able to see it from AKL. I'm not sure if there will be an observation area, perhaps near the new pool.

The Sunset Savanna will open with the resort. The okapi are only set to be on Pembe Savanna. Once the resort opening date was set for May 1st, I remember also reading that the Pembe Savanna would open later on with Phase 2 of the resort. It was announced with an opening date in September.

Thanks...we are actually staying in the new building...we were looking forward to the new savanna...maybe we will get a pleasant surprise.

You will still be able to enjoy the animals on Sunset savanna if you have a savanna view booked. It's just the new one that wont be open because none of the rooms in that area will be done or open either.
