New RunDisney events for 2014??

There was some legit-sounding rumours and information around a while ago about new events at WDW, DLR, and Disneyland Paris in 2014. Any more details lately? I just assume that if it were the case, registration would be opening in the very near future. No registration info probably means no new races?

While final paperwork is not complete for DLP, expect a 2015 race. The goal was a 2014 DLP race but that does not appear to be happening.

There is also a new WDW and a new DL race under development. I was thinking a 2014 inaugural date for both of these. I would look for both races to not align with current half or full events. All distances will be a half or full distance.

There was a fourth race floated out in late summer. The folks I know did not elaborate on that race. We did discuss the amazement within the rD organization of how fast the CA events fill. If there is a fourth event, I would expect CA to be tapped on that rather than a different location.

Though, I also expect other international races to be developed in the coming years. Disney signaled this in a job posting for a public information manager position about 2 months ago.

I want to know what the DLR race will be! I am planning for the C2C with PHM and then DL Half, but that last week of August is a busy time at work and would much rather race a different inaugural event instead.

Will it be announced before DL Half registration in January??

I do not have anything more specific that I posted. With the 'secrecy' policies in place at the Mouse House I seriously doubt there will be anything further leaked. Though, I may run into my source in a couple weeks. Maybe more news will come out of that.

I expect that the races will be announced soon if they do occur in 2014. It's not too late for a March, April or May race to be placed on the books, at least for a half.

This is crazy - there are very few other venues or organizations that have this many events! If it wasn't dangerous to swim in Bay Lake or the Lagoon I'd half expect a triathlon by now.

My DH road on the monorail with folks from RunDisney during last years PHM. They said no triathalons due to the inability to have so many roads closed that would be needed for the bike and run portions. Plus, no safe place to swim

I always wished I had done the race in 08 at DCA. I know swimming Paradise Bay will never be a choice again.

I heard about that one! And everyone was coming out brown b/c of the dye in the water. I did the duathalon they had the following year and that one was fun. The bike part was similar to the DL 1/2 course. I wish they'd bring that one back.
