New Room Price Increase Coming Your Way (!?)

Alas, as long as business keeps up, expect the prices to do the same.
This is true. It's the Supply/Demand curve again.

I think the problem here though, is that they will lose those "Dedicated" folks and when the demand drops, so too will the price, but getting those previously dedicated folks back will be tough.

I think if they are going to add a $15 resort fee that they should have it for 1 day or even 2. 3 days or longer should not have a resort fee. IMO

Also.. maybe if people were doing 1 to 3 nights maybe no magic bands..maybe that will help with costs. Who knows what disney will do.

If the $15 would be implemented anytime soon, would it be for new reservations only? I'm hoping our October trip would be excluded since it's booked!

From the talk on the other forums, if you have a current reservation, your prices are locked in. The added fee, if it happens, would be on new reservations booked after the fee start date.

That's good to know. With all the price increases, this may be our last trip to the Fort for a while!

Let's be clear though, we don't even know that the fee WILL be implemented and even if it is, HOW it will be implemented (by person, by day, etc...)

However, I do believe that IF it's implemented, chances are extremely good that it will not impact current reservations. That said however, often times people do the Reservation Shuffle, so again, IF it's implemented, and you have to "Shuffle" (move, modify, etc...) your reservation, you may be subjected to new fees/policies.

I noticed this thread, and there is one on the budget board where they now are charging 149.00 pp for the EMH which is only 3 hours. Boy where does all this end? Not to mention the new parking fees as well.:sad2:

That makes little sense to me. Perhaps it's become an option for Non-Disney Resorts for the fee.

Personally, I like EMH hours in that it tells me which resorts to avoid (those with EMH) and to go to (the one that had EMH the day before). I will NEVER EVER pay for EMH (Specifically) unless there is some guarantee of a lower crowd or it's part of another event (such as MNSHP or MVMCP). Even the other events are getting crazy crowded too though.

Paying $149 for EMH is more than a 1 day entrance pass at MK during "Peak" season. Heck for $175, I can get a 1-day pass with park hopper including all taxes/fees AND is not discounted at all.

I think the $149 EMH belongs on the "Rumor" board instead.

Finally, just googled, searched, etc... All I could find is references to the $15 resort fee possibility. All EMH issues were that it was a "Benefit" of "Select Walt Disney World" hotels/resorts. No FEE for EMH.

Better get a better search engine. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/events-tours/magic-kingdom/disney-after-hours/

You get "free" ice cream and soda......

That is NOT EMH, That is an "After Hours Event" Much like the MNSHP and MVMCP.

EMH is just Extra Hours for Guests or WDW Hotels/Resorts with nothing special. Those links are for "Disney After Hours" but they have "Extra's" included.

Ice Cream Novelties & Select Beverages Included!
In the midst of the laughs and thrills, be sure to chill out with ice cream novelties and select bottled beverages—included with the cost of admission—available at carts stationed through the park. In addition, you can also purchase select menu items at Casey’s Corner and STARBUCKS® Coffee and specialty beverages from Main Street Bakery.

With “Disney After Hours,” guests buy a ticket and get access to The Magic Kingdom for three hours after the park closes, including select attractions and meet & greets.

I know it's a minor distinction and can certainly be seen as paying for EMH, but it's not. EMH is during normal operating hours but is limited to Guests only, where "Disney After Hours" is after the park Officially Closes and is for a limited number of Guest (but not limited to WDW Hotel/resort guests).

I suspect this is their way to create events like MNSHP and MVMCP during a season where there is nothing Special to celebrate (like Halloween or Christmas).

This is what the other person was talking about that you referred to and quoted, he/she just called it the wrong thing. I know what EMH is and people are speculating that this may be the beginning of the end to them.

Of course after your post with the links, I can certainly see how some could see it as EMH and of course the beginning of the end. When I searched, I searched using "EMH" and "Extra Magic Hours". That is why I didn't get anything that made sense of the OP's comment (to the EMH)

For me however, I see EMH and even these "After Hours" events as a waste. We have done the MVMCP (3 times in 2 trips). These are supposed to be "Limited" events, except that the limit seems to be on how many tickets WDW can sell for it. The first one for us was by far the best. It wasn't too crowded. That was in 2012, but we went again twice in 2014. The weather not withstanding (as it rained half way through the first one we went to in 2014), the crowd was worse than a regular day at the park. We pretty much spent 2 hours trying to stake (and maintain) our claim to a spot to watch the parade. Except for CM's walking around checking that people had their Event Bands on and that some restaurants (and rides) were closed, you'd be hard pressed to tell there was a special event by the "Limited" crowd. Our second MVMCP in 2014 was about the same except we didn't wait for the parade this time.

So there were 5 of us on that trip and about $300 each (~150 x 2 events) well..... let's just say I could have found much better things to spend $1500 on.

We have done both the MVMCP and MNSSHP and as you said it is busy, but easier to maneuver later in the night. We would do them again, but I would never do this. We don't really take advantage of EMH either but it was nice that it was there.

I know people are worried about this taking away EMH but I just can't imagine it happening because it's a perk of staying onsite. At least I hope they don't take away EMH, I just don't see that as being a wise business decision.

From what perspective?

From WDW, it absolutely makes sense. Crowds during the day aren't down (Full price tickets) and crowds at these events (or at least MNSHP and MVMCP) are very high (Full price PLUS tickets), so as Parrothead64 says..... $$$$$$$$$ + $$$$$$$

Now from the faithful, regular (and often times frequent) visitor, it turns you away and makes you not want to go.

At this time the "Perk" is not going away, it's still there (if maybe lessened in frequency), but I too will not do the "After Hours" for that kind of money. Heck I don't even like going to EMH and at this point, unless something fantastic is offered, I don't see us doing the MVMCP or MNSHP either. Until enough of us (in the world) start saying NO by taking our dollars elsewhere, I don't see things improving for the "Regulars". Since WDW is always full (well, you know what I mean) they will keep working on separating us from our money. After all, that's the goal of ANY business, and WDW is good at it.

I do believe that IF it's implemented, chances are extremely good that it will not impact current reservations.

1) IF it is implemented, it would be applied to all reservations and stays - current and new.
. . . the quoted room rate would remain the same
. . . this would be added to the room-rate
. . . it would not be a room-rate increase
. . . it would be an added fee
2) When you make a ressie, it always says things are "Subject to Change.
3) And, this would be such a "subject".

yep, we've seen it happen several times in the past years. People have posted how they scored tickets or resort prices in advance and then have a meltdown when the "new fees" were added to it.

Now, the way I figure it, that new After Hours deal is what, $149 each? so, $600 for the four members of my family? Um, let me see, my total fuel bill for pulling the camper from MS to the Fort was $500.

Let's see, do some comparing here...that's 4x...carry the 2...cross multiply the 8...get the cosign of the 12...square that to the numerator of the tangent...add 10...and...yep...just as I figured:

They are crazy as hell!
