New Room Price Increase Coming Your Way (!?)

Well worth renting a locker and taking my own lunch in with me.

Note to self:
Add toilet paper to picnic supplies (and not the single ply garbage). In fact, add TP to the backpack supplies.

Also, avoid adding credit card to MB in case wife or kids are too embarrassed to ask me for some TP.

(and not the single ply garbage)
The only way that single ply saves money is people get too tired of pulling on the roll.... UGH!

When I was younger our local movie theater used to have a toilet paper dispenser that was like a napkin dispenser in that it literally was one sheet at a time (to prevent pranksters from starting the roll down the toilet and continually flushing to see it go flying off the roll.)

The problem is the sheets were more like the paper that they use in sandwich shops when making your sub/sandwich.

Yes, yes it was. Don't miss that at all.

I'm pretty sure there is a manila folder in The Bunker that contains a management business case to put vending machines in the bathroom stalls selling toilet paper by the square in the resorts and in the parks.

I bet part of the business case involves a slight alteration to the quality ingredients used in the fine cuisine served at wretched establishments (IMHO) like Pecos Bill's that will increase the use of said vending machines.

And of course, as always, Disney will say they undertook these changes "due to guest demand". :sad2:

Bama Ed

PS - if you link a credit card to your magic band, you can just wave your wrist over the machine repeatedly and get all the squares you need. And if you eat the "Spicy Beef Burrito" at Bill's, you might be waving quite a bit. That's when they've got you right where they want you. Oh, you'll pay. Yes you will...

Yes. They would have gotten plenty of money from me after eating at Pecos Bills. Let's just say it was a good move tearing down Pete's Garage, it was never the same.

OK, I'm going to go there...if they charge per person it might deter the folks who book a single campsite for a single night with 10 guests assigned and never step foot onto Fort property. Not that I think that we need a resort fee by any means, just trying to look for a silver lining.

Perhaps a case of "be careful what you wish for"....seems the throw away room would be less lucrative....unfortunately everyone may have to pay to make that loophole

True, but the availability of sites might be better.

I could however see a happy medium in the middle. Maybe a "Cut off". 4 folks or less, no surcharge, each additional person is an extra price. I think it's better to make the fee a component to those who are going to use (or more likely abuse) the feature/function. Of course those that have larger families and are legitimately staying would also have to pay, but the alternative is that they may end up paying anyway, right?

I know there is no perfect solution. They want to make money and we want to save money, but somewhere in there there is a happy medium, right? :)

As to the throwaway campsite issue, the weekends should be a minimum 2-night stay and the resort fee if implemented, should be per campsite. I've never seen a resort fee per person (we are a family of 6 so I'm worried:) ). They can always open to 1-night stays a week before or something. Interestingly enough, the resort fee has the attention of Congress and a bill has been introduced to prohibit showing one price and then adding on fees. Maybe Disney waited too long and will have to rethink and will just hike the rates. The article I read about it is in the Washington Post (also deals with airline seats and other consumer protections).

I do think that the full hook-up designation is on its last legs which makes me sad as those four loops are my favorite in terms of space and location and price.

We are a large family so we are used to paying extra fees per person when we camp. Honestly as much as I hate a resort fee I'd almost be okay with a per person fee over 4 people if it kept people from booking throwaway sites.

That's kind of my thought too. Right now, because we have my DD18's Boy Friend living with us (and included in most vacations and such) we are now a family of 5. This does cause some additional fees (Hotels and such) but we expect that.

I don't like an increased fee either, but in some cases it could be the lesser of evils.

The throwaway campsite posts I see just tick me off especially when people really want to go and can't. If anything I see Disney converting the tent sites to higher priced sites, maybe then they'd get booked by people who want to use them and not just by people who want free magic bands and parking.

And the ability to do FP+ 60 days out.

I think if you cancel a reservation then all FP+ that have been made should be tied to the reservation and should be cancelled. After all, if you are cancelling a reservation because you can no longer attend, then the FP+ should not be required. Since you can do FP+ normally 30 days out, maybe the Reservation (for the Fort) cancellation fee should be at that point too. If you cancel within 30 days, you have to pay for 1 day (or whatever the fee would/should be).

I think it would help those who truly want to stay there get their proper reservations and help reduce the "Throw-away" sites.

I don't, I just don't think of using the systems these ways.

I don't think this alone would do it. They (those "Offenders") book the site, Wait to do their FP+ Maybe even wait to get the Magic bands, and then cancel in the last moments getting a full refund. Remember, often times, they only book 1 day, so even at that to many, booking and paying for 1 day still affords them ALL those benefits, even if they never step foot on the Fort Property.

The down side, is that there are people who may legitimately want a 1 day stay. I see it all the time on the forums of folks who stay 1 day at The Poly and then come to the Fort (or vice versa). They do it just to experience it. Oh well, Some people will always work to abuse the system.

People abuse the system and we all have to pay for it. Unfortunately that's life.

If this $15 per night fee would be implemented, would it be added to existing reservations? And, am I right that it would be $15 per night per person? For just me and the hubby, that would add $300 to our campground fee for our 10-night stay! Oh....my......gosh!!!!!!

Nothing in writing as of yet. My guess would be per night.

As I'm sure we are, like most others, long-time patrons of Disney, we are almost at the limits of our patience with the increases. We love Disney, and have been coming almost yearly, at least once a year, since 1980 when my husband and I were married. We've stayed almost everywhere as we traveled from NY, were vacation club members for 11 years before we became full-time rv'ers. We have a family reunion with my husband's family and cousins each winter. It was two weeks. Then we cut it down to 11 days. Next year is a single week. We've dropped from regular annual passes to the weekday select passes. We no longer patronize any signature dining restaurants, and go to very few sit-down meals, and only at lunch. Even the counter service restaurants are getting obnoxious, so we eat at the campsite. No discounts for campsites any longer. Buses take longer to get around. We also feel, especially at Epcot, the alcohol consumption is getting out of hand. Next year may be the last year, as we are researching different places in Florida to have our reunion. This makes me sad, but it is what it is. If a "resort fee" is imposed, I feel as if we are definitely being taken advantage of and we will just stop coming. Yes, the Fort is a really nice place, but there are other great places out there as well. One of these days, they will push too hard and it will be only for the wealthy.
