Got a message from another board about saving UP TO 30% on room-only. So, I called.

There is a measly 5% off on movies. 20% off on music. 25% off on CB and Coronado springs. However, if you hange you reservation AT ALL in any way (even ADDING something) you will be billed for the new, higher ticket prices for however
Many days you have tickets. This includes free dining IF it goes free. Works out to be about $31-$37 per person additional with the change.

I am not pleased at ALL with this arbitrary nickel and diming. Next year it's a nice beach and Busch gardens vacation. No raise in 5 years doesn't allow WDW any more.

Still not really sure we're even doing WDW this year at this rate.

The way to avoid this in the future is to not book a package. The room-only discounts don't apply to packages. So if you book the room and tickets separately - then you don't have this issue and no change is needed.

i always heard you could apply room discounts if you had a pkg booked as long as it wasnt FD pkg. has something changed recently?

The current room discount is bookable as a package. So it hasn't changed in that respect. I think they are referring to the fact that they booked a package before the ticket price increase. So if they were to appy the discount, the ticket prices would increase to the new prices and decrease the savings.

OP, if you're not interested in dinning. You could book a room only with the discount (no tickets or dinning). Then you could buy your tickets elsewhere at a discounted price. You might want to price it out to see if it is a better deal for you.
