Spoke to CRO this morning... No AAA rates for 2004 yet.
Someone let me know if it becomes available.

Another interesting tidbit. If you request a room close to the food court at CBR, and I would guess the other moderates as well, it is no longer considered a "standard" room. Quoting prices 15.00 more per night than the standard. For regular season Standard is 144.00, near the food court 159.00, water view 151.00 (I think), I stopped listening after the food court price!

The Value resorts do that, cost is $10.00 per night, I guess it was just a matter of time before the moderates had it. CBR is so spread out, and I am sure that they get a lot of requests for the buildings close to the main building, etc.

More and more people are requesting specific room locations, some down to the actual room number! The increase in such requests has led to difficulty in the front desk making room assignments so that everyone will be happy. Just as with the Value Resorts, it was just a matter of time before WDW decided to attach a monetary value to those locations that everyone seems to want. If you want a specific room location coveted by everyone, now you'll have to pay for it, just like with room views.

stringercapecod, Just wanted to let you know I did get a AAA discount applied to my 2004 ressie this morning.

Hmmm....if I request a room NOBODY wants, can I get a discount? :p

I don't care where my room is, I don't mind walking (I walk everyday anyway for exercise), I really don't mind waiting longer for the bus and not being near the food (I think that's kind of a good thing!).

Thanks vicb for your info. I'm going to call back RIGHT NOW.

And BethC1952... Very interesting way of thinking. You should work for Disney! :p

Looking into my crystal ball I see the next thing they start charging for is all the packages that are being shipped to the resorts.

I figured it was a matter of time before they started doing that.

I just spoke with Disney Club and they affirmed what the OP has said. I am NOT a happy camper about this because I have a walking disability and I need to be close to the foodcourt so I am being penalized by having to pay more just because I have a disability. Its not bad enough to need a disabled room but bad enough that I can end up having to use an ECV to get around if I do too much walking. Even paying the higher price is no guarentee you will get Martinique BLD 25 Or one of the closer North Trinidad rooms. I was told preferred is ALL of Martinique and ALL of Trinidad North. Some of those rooms are so far out you might as well be in Trinidad South or whatever comes before Martinique. Arrrrrrgh. They said you can still tell them of a disability but it doesnt guarentee anything.

Specific room locations and types of rooms are on a request basis, and are subject to availability at check-in. "these requests for specific room type of location may result in additional charges to be paid directly to the hotel"

Hopefully not till after October. We don't eat at the food court much, but it is nice to be close to the big pools.

I'm flexible at CBR. I've never stayed there but of course requested Martinique. As long as I'm not in Trinidad south I can deal. I'm with you BethC1952. If I stay in the remote rooms, can I get a discount? That might make it worth it.

When I stayed at CSR I did not like the food court, but fell in love with the pool. They are at opposite ends of the resort. I wonder when they start charging extra for that.

Oh well, ---A few more overtime days at work, because I refuse to give up my vacations.:)

The higher charge for preferred rooms I was told was at ALL the moderate resorts. I mentioned CBR and really quizzed her on that one because that's where we usually stay. Im not sure what the preferred buildings are at the other resorts. I would venture to guess that Bld 14 and 15 at POR are in that class though. This also does not start until 2004

stringercapecod,
I too had the AAA discount applied to our 2004 ressie. Just wanted to let you know!!!

I think part of the reason that Disney decided to do that is because of these bb's. So many people make explicit requests for where they want to stay. Until I came to these boards I would never have thought it was possible to specify what building, view, etc.

I can imagine the work that must go into trying to sort out all of these requests for building, floor, view requests. I am sure a few years ago they didn't have the demand that they have now for these requests. Even though these are requests someone must process them.

As I mentioned I think the next thing that they will try to make a little money on is charging to receive packages.

We were always assigned to Trinidad North and didn't ask for it. When my daughter was a CM she asked for Martinique. I would rather pay to be in those buildings than pay for a water view though.

Just mentioned in Deb Wills newsletter.

Beginning in 2004, the Caribbean Beach resort will begin offering a preferred room category, similar to that offered at the All Star Resorts. Cost of the new rooms will be the same as for water view and king rooms. Rooms in this new category will be close to Old Port Royale, the main food court area of the resort.
