I've been enjoying reading the forum for a while but this is the first time I've joined in!

My sister and I are planning a trip to DLRP in June this year. We were thinking of going on the 4th for 3 nights, but recently heard that the two big new rides are opening on the 9th... I'm just wondering if anyone might know from past experience whether rides tend to open a bit earlier than the official date? If not, we might need to rethink our plans!

Thanks in advance for any replies :)

well i went just before buzz lightyear opened, and on most days it was open! so it is possible there may be 'soft openings' for these rides...although be warned, for in the case of space mountain (mission 2, we were there 2 days before it opened, gutting) we were not allowed on it at all, and there were people all over the park wearing press and VIP tags...so it really depends on how big Disney wants the launch to be I suppose.

Will this be your first trip? Welcome to the DIS boards :)

I'll be coming home on the 4th so I'll be missing out to. Gutted. Suppose I'll have to make an extra trip in the summer then!!! I love my AP!

I know there will be special event for SHC in June regarding the new rides...
And I have the impression they are going to have "big" happenings around the opening of the new rides...

we leave for home on 7th, so also will miss out, keep hoping they might open it couple days early!

Hi BeckyW and welcome to DLP DIS board :wave2:
We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each :goodvibes

If you have not had a look yet, posting guidelines can be found here and details regarding help on signatures here

The rides may have what is called soft opening before the official day. Annual passholders and Shareholders may get a preview. If you want to ensure you get on these rides the only definite way is to make sure your trip is after the 9th :)

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Will have to weigh up how much we want to do the rides against the extra cost - prices seems to go up quite a bit towards the end of June... Oh well, at least if we miss them we'll have an excuse to go back soon! :yay:

We've been once before, to Sequoia Lodge in September 05, and loved it. This time we're thinking of the Cheyenne as we're on a fairly tight budget. I;d be interested to hear from anyone who's been there lately, would you recommend it? I know there's loads of info about it on here already, will go and have a read now!

Welcome to the DIS BeckyW

We stayed at the Cheyenne for the first time last year. DH had been wanting to stay there for a long time, but I wasn't sure. Ended up really liking the place!! :thumbsup2 Unfortunately the Cheyenne is the one onsite hotel we don't have an FAQ on, but we're hoping to sort that out in the near future!
