New Ride Update in MGM

I heard through the grapevine that Disney is doing its first real scary Monstor ride. They were undecided if they were going to go this route, but I heard that it is a go and will be in an appropriate section in MGM. This is what I heard so far. It will be called a tribute to monstors and it takes guests through a history of monstors in the movies through a simulated car through a dark theater. The screens in the theater open and you go through a dark tunnel where you encounter many scary monstors. At times it goes fast and slow at other times. At first they were going to use boats like the tunnel of love, but I heard it will just be on some sort of track that is below and above. At other times it will feel like you are flying through the night skies. The estimated time of this ride is to be completed the end of 2006.

My source tells me that the technology that is going to be used in this ride will be the first of its kind and will cost more than mission space.

Sounds good.

Hope it's true.

Will be interesting if true.
Sounds more like something Universal would do.

Interesting rumor.

It does sound more Universal than Disney, but the description given sounds like it could work as Great Movie Ride replacement (which I would not be in favor of). In any cause, if something this big were planned for 2006, I'm thinking word would have leaked out by now.

I hope this is true. I think it's a brilliant idea!!:hyper: I LOVE IT!!!I'm all in favor of adding another cool dark ride.

Let's keep our fingers crossed. :thewave:

What Movie Monsters rights does Disney own? Universal and 20th Century Fox own most of the Movie Monsters that I know of. This ride sounds a lot like the new Mummy ride at Universal stuidos in fact. The only Monsters that come to mind are the ones from Monster Inc. and of course Eisner. I know for darn sure the Eisner ride would scare the crap out of Adults and Kids alike so we can squash that one.

Eisner sat through the original Alien Encounter and declared it to be too cute, giving birth to the horror simulation that we all got to ride (personally, I loved it!) - that in many ways was an Eisner ride ;)

WOW thats shocking and totally new news. Telling someone the attraction is not scary enough is hardly enough to claim that Eisner has some sort of good or creative input for the attraction. That is sort of the idea though. This new monster ride would have Eisner micromanaging the entire attraction. His big face would be plastered all of the ride scaring kids and adults. He would have the ending randomly changed because he didn't get it (Signs). He would cut funding for it. He would cut maintenance for it after it was up and running. "Up and running" would be a guess...it would have the hours changed every day so it would be impossible to plan to visit the attraction. During the building of the attraction he would fire any competent employee associated with it because he saw them as a threat to his power. The best part would be everyone that visits MGM gets their picture taken on the ride and their CC automatically charged even if they didn't ride it. Every night Eisner himself will be searching the cars for lose change.

Too bad you should read up on Eisner.

lol! Do a search for me on these forums - I have VERY staunch views on Eisner and certainly don't hesitate to post them (much to the annoyance of others) ;) What I didn't get was how you managed to move on to what you said from the "will the ride exist" topic. I KNOW what you're saying - I was just being playful :teeth:

Here's an idea....

Instead of a Monsters ride, how about a Disney Villain ride? It won't be too scary for the kids and it keeps it Disney.

I LOVE IT!!! Let's do it!!!!!!!!!

:teeth: :rotfl: Oh gosh! That's too funny!!!

Eisner sat through the original Alien Encounter and declared it to be too cute

The obvious solution would have been to replace Skippy with Eisner!!! :teeth:/:scared1:

Sorry for diverting discussion again ::MickeyMo

Could this be the fruition of the "fifth park themed on villains" rumour? Could be...

Trust me I don't need to do a search...Been here much longer then you have reguardless of what my name reflects.

Sorry you still don't get it ....think about it a little bit longer and one day it will hit you. Here I'll give you a little help...out of the hundereds of rumored attractions that have been a "sure thng" "they are starting next week" 3-4 have been built or are being built...and so far everyone of them has been well.... less then rumored. So wdwguide 's comments really are pretty darn close. Hey don't give up though. However therre is a long long list of attractions that I'm still fool heartly waiting for.

I was TEASING Phoebesaturn! lol! As I said I do understand the point you're trying to make (even if I do completely disagree with it) - just not how you rabbit-hopped on to it :p That's MY trick - lol :)

uhhh finially a park rumor thread and it gets taken over by more eisner banter. I hate the guy as much as the rest, but this board has become nothing more than a whipping post for disney corporate governess. personally I think the rumor is far-fetched and seems to have no focus. however I would enjoy ANY addition to MGM these days..

Read my first post again...Monster...Disney...no Monsters unless you count Eisner.

ddank- I'd love a quality attraction added to the parks just as much as the next person...however you must understand the two topics are very much related? Right?

ddank has hit the nail on the head in my opinion. This is daft and a tenuous link at best; we all have our opinions of Eisner but they should not be allowed to become the champions of our thinking nor should they be allowed to run so amok. This thread was about whether a ride would be added and where it could go: was the rumour true? I'm still interested in this by the way - if anyone has anything more to add I'd love to know :)

What this isn't about however, is associating an object of distaste (such as M. Eisner) with anything possessing less than angelic properties which might in the course of posting be mentioned. I appreciate your strength of feeling and I respect your sentiment, I do, but there is a time and a place. This, I suspect, is not it :)

Let's get this thread back on track. So back to the OP. Where would this ride go? Replace Great Movie Ride, perhaps or somehow fit into the new NY Street/Backlot areas in development? I have always thought those areas could use another "E Ticket" to really pull guests back there.
