New Ride coming to MGM

Remember, this is coming from a CM, not Disney.... So, take it with many grains of salt... In fact, I understand a Monster's Inc coaster, or one themed to Rat or Crush, is coming first...

That's what I've heard as well, that the coaster is on the way first. I've never heard anything about this. And really, why make another Haunted Mansion? We've been there, done that.

The only other scary attraction was AE and Michael Eisner thought it was too scary for disney world.
Actually... it was Eisner who ordered that AE be made more scary than it was originally designed -- or unveilled.

In AE's first version (which opened in 12/94), SIR was voiced by Phil Hartman, and the attraction ended with Chairman Clench finally materializing in the transportation tube, only to be trapped inside as the technicians couldn't unlock the shields that were erected to keep the scary Alien at bay. The audience left while Clench was pounding at the case from the inside screaming "Hey, don't leave! I'm here! Drop the shields! Hello?" Eisner disliked the comedy and the attraction was quickly closed and retooled. In the new version (it reopened in 6/95) the tone was much darker.

There's no truth to this dark ride rumor -- in fact, DHS is already getting a brand-new state-of-the-art dark ride with TSMM, so why would they build another one so quickly?

Don't forget times do change and so do younger people. Eventually Disney is going to have to get a little edgier to get the crowd that rather go to Universal.

Well let's see,

The Seas with Nemo & Turtle Talk
Monsters Inc Laugh Floor
Buzz Lightyear
Stitch Encounter
Midway Mania

if they're going to get edgier, I wonder when they plan to start?

I mean, I had this discussion on another disney website who's name I cant mention here. Basically I've found recently that if you consider the latest recent additions, they're practially all for the kids and IMO not enough for the adults to enjoy just as easily.

When you compare these new additions to Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Mr. Toad...those classic rides are VERY edgy and many adults could enjoy them without children...I dont feel the same about these new attractions

This is so true. By the way, I made this rumor up, so there is definitely no truth to it. Sorry folks. I guess it was just wishful thinking. I do hope Disney does think of us adults and teens when creating new rides. Nemo and Stitch are so bad, I can't imagine the imagineers actually wanting to be associated with them. Now if they can just continue with rides like Soarin, Philarmagic and Dionsaur that will give them the juice they need.

I'm hoping Toy Story Mania is good.

Man If I had known this was a welcomed pratice here at the DIS then I would have been making stuff up too. :headache:

mysteriously missing from your list is Expedition Everest. Soarin' is also not there oddly enough. Disney will always be geared towards a younger crowd then many other theme parks. But I don't think Disney has abandoned the teen and up crowd

As for Alien Encounter, I always thought it was OK but misplaced. I don't think it would have been as poorly received if it was in MGM instead.
