New Ride at Typhoon Lagoon

Hi everyone,

Maybe I'm just grumpy, but I thought the new Crush 'n Gusher at Typhoon Lagoon was kind of cheapo for Disney.

The theme idea is cute, but really just a way to dress up a bare metal stairway like you'd see at any non-Disney water park.

And the ride seemed to be off the shelf? It's a neat idea, with hills you are forced up at high speed, but the rollers under my butt on each hill kind of hurt!

Maybe if I go do it again I'll like it better...

There's a huge area of chairs and a small pool and bathrooms that're newly built next to it, but there was almost no one hanging out there.

I don't think this thing is the hit they expected it to be, maybe because it's kind of hard to find.

Anybody else ride it this summer?

So far the reviews have been almost all positive about this ride. I know I am really excited to try it. I already really love TL. Maybe a second ride would change your opinion.

We rode it last month and the whole family loved it. Yes, the rollers hurt, but if you try to pick yourself up it is much better. I think it is a great new addition to TL.

We rode it in June. There wasn't much of a wait during the morning hours but we tried to ride again in the afternoon and the line stretched from the stairs to the far end of the pool. The wait was probably close to 30 - 45 minutes.

I agree with the OP regarding the way it was built and how short the ride is but it is a lot of fun. Just remember to lift your butt.

I wouldn't say its "cheap" at all- what about the conveyor belt that pushes you on to the slide? I doubt that was cheap; its so nice not having to scoot onto the slide.

I don't agree that the theme was a cheap way to dress the metal stairway at all IMHO. Disney has a way of making things interseting and enjoyable and I believe that the them fit in well with TL. I am sure they could have used another way to "dress up" metal for the stairway if they wanted (Disney has the money to do whatever they want), but I think they chose this to create a neat theme. Disney has always impressed me and I am sure it will contiune to. The Crush 'n' Gusher was an awesome ride and I think you will like it much better once you ride it again.

10yo DD and I were there last week. We went to TL 2 days and headed first to this attraction both days. I loved it; DD thought it was good -- but nothing beats the wave pool for her. The CMs tell you to raise your bottom, we now know why.

I thought they did a terrific job with the theming -- a canning factory would be steel, etc.

It is off the beaten path, but once people find it, it will get more crowded. I thought the beach area was a great place to take a break and check my messages. Thumbs up from us.
