New Restaurant at Wilderness Lodge

I would love to see that location as a signature. But with it located smack in the middle of 2 pools, I don't think that will happen.

Laura

You have a good point - and I had not considered that.

Perhaps this building has been relegated to "cheap quick food" due to the noise factor from the pools. Sad, as it has a VERY good waterfront location. COULD have been a SIG of the order of Narcoosse's.

But I don't own the land, and I don't get to vote :).

All personal opinion - I'm not right, you aren't wrong....

They could make the new restaurant a CS during the day and TS at night like Be Our Guest.
Or an in between like Pepper Market. I keep coming back to the idea that I don't think WL will support 3 TS restaurants plus a CS and that the current CS isn't sufficient. Now if they do the Ft. Wilderness DVC and tie it in with transportation, that could make it viable.

Forget another restaurant - if Disney really want's to create a unique attraction for "Copper Creek" then how about Disney's first INDOOR pool????? This would certainly offer a very unique advantage to attract new "Copper Creek" buyers and certainly guarantee that the resort would be is high demand and booked solid during the months from December through March!!!! It would be the only site on DVC property that would virtually guarantee swimming during the "winter" months regardless of the weather! What do you think????

The big question would be if the pool is restricted to "Cooper Creek" guest only or would they have to allow "Boulder Ridge" guests access since it's on "Wilderness Lodge" property?????

Best wishes,
Dave

Remember that Copper Creek is only adding new cabins and most likely converting approx 1/2 of the hotel rooms. On the pool I feel pretty confident in stating it will be for the use of any DVC there and almost certainly for any guest at Wilderness Lodge resort.

It is fairly large building for a Quick service restaurant near a pool. But it does appear to have a wing that is for outdoor dining.

I'm really behind! I did not even know they were doing anything new at Wilderness Lodge, which is one my favorite resorts. Because we spend less time at Magic Kingdom since kids got older, we have been staying in the EPCOT area. What is the building with the green metal roof on the far side of the construction?

That's the existing Teton Rentals building (bike and boat rental).

Just reporting what I've read (and a few of you may have read the same blurb), but one site claims his "inside source" says it will be a TS. I'm unconvinced but it sure is great grist for the rumor mill. :stir: As for the indoor pool, no thank you. First, the expense to build and then manage the upkeep on such a structure is more than Disney would want to pay and increase dues more than I'd want to pay. Second, the last thing VWL needs (yeah, yeah, I'm gonna keep calling it the classic name) is yet another reason to book it during Nov-Jan. While an out-of-the-box notion which is fun to consider, I don't see it happening. Then again, if Dubai can build an indoor ski center, anything is possible. pirate:

An indoor pool would transform the WL complex into a Great Wolf Lodge complex (google Great Wolf Lodge to see the similarities to the present WL). I don't know if that wouldn't be a bad thing. Consider how insanely popular the BC/YC Stormalong Bay is, and it's IMO nothing really special.

It sickens me to see this beautiful, quiet beach turned into some mystery restaurant. We spent many wonderful times at this beach. The WL is no longer in the wilderness, which seems like such a bonehead move by Disney.

do you think the new restaurant will be open by the holidays? The build process seems to be going very slow.

At this point, it's merely speculation; however, my personal belief is no, it won't be ready by the holidays. As you say, the build is progressing at Disney's typically methodical pace. Second, to use the building would mean opening up the fencing to create a traffic flow for guests, and given the cabins will still be under construction, I'm not sure they'd want folks wandering around or near that construction area. My thoughts are Disney will want to roll out everything as closely together as possible. Then again, Disney could have a plan to open the eatery, keep it walled off from surrounding construction, and allow tours of a model cabin nearby. That's just not where my money rests. ;)

During our stay at VWL in May I spoke to a CM who was action as security for the construction area. He said there would be a CS restaurant for both pools as RF was deemed as not being convenient for pool guests. It would also serve as the location for boat and bike rentals as well as restrooms. There was also a possibility of a pool bar area being included.
