just back from wdw~great trip! anyway. while we were at caribbean beach resort, we noticed new buildings across the street. it was obviously a new resort. any ideas? we were told the bonnet golf resort. does this sound right? thanks! :teleport:

Not owned or operated by Disney. And not on Disney property, but adjacent to Disney property.

I remember awhile back that a DVC newsletter had said that Bonnet Creek was going to be a DVC resort.. what happened?

Apparantly, there is a small parcel of land which is landlocked by Disney property but not owned by Disney, and that is where the Bonnet Creek resort has been built

There were plans for a DVC resort up by the Bonnet Creek Golf Club, near Ft. Wilderness and Dixie Landings. Some early land clearing had begun, but that project was put on hold. Knowing Disney as we do, it could return at any time, or it might never return at all.

This new resort shares the name "Bonnet Creek", but otherwise it has nothing to do with the other one. (I've also heard that the golf club will have its name changed to avoid confusion, but I can't verify that this has happened.)

...when you are driving into the entrance of CBR, there is a road to your left that leads to another resort being built. (we were staying at CBR in July 2002). One of the WDW "purple pants" guys said it was on WDW property but not a Disney-owned resort (like S/D), with, either a Japanese theme, or owned by a Japanese co (?). Any ideas??

My brother-in-law bought a timeshare here. I believe the land was owned by a Japanese company before they sold to Fairfield. We drove through the resort at night, but it looks to be more of a Spanish motif in the outside architecture, and the inside decor sounds like a nice upscale hotel with leather couches, etc. I'm hoping to get to stay there one day. My brother-in-law was checking into availability for the March trip my husband and I are taking, but I haven't heard back from him so we probably will stick with the CR and POR.

swilphil, is it open yet? I don't remember reading or hearing anything about it??

The DVC resort was to be called Eagle Pines and located at that Eagle Pines Golf Course. It was to be built before Saratoga Springs was even conceived. But with the slow business at Disney, they put those plans on mothballs for a while.

Bonnet Creek Resort is open already, but not all the buildings are open yet.

...check it out when I head down to WDW in Feb!
