You are building a new resort on WDW property, what would the theme be and briefly describe it.

I personally thought about it and I thought a Blizzard beach ish resort theme would be kinda cool. The whole resort would obviously have a winter theme. You could stay in different blocks similar to CSR or CBR and maybe one block could look like an igloo and another like a snowed in ski lodge etc...

what are other people's ideas?

Modeled after the wildly successful Disney Magic and Wonder, this resort would set the tone of a cruise ship at sea, starting with the obviously ship-shaped exterior, and placement along the eastern shore of Bay Lake. It would boast ten stories of cruise-ship themed, 300-square-foot rooms, an upper deck festooned with suites, and dining options much like the rotational dining currently found on the Disney ships. The upper level would be open for guest participation in deck pools, deck sports, and would include nightly "at sea" parties such as the very popular "Pirates in the Caribbean" party. Once each night, during one of the parties, a real pirate ship would attack from Bay Lake in a brightly lit, extensively choreographed show. A main-deck restaurant would provide a themed dining experience timed to coincide with the pirate attack, followed shortly by the nightly spectacular fireworks from the Magic Kingdom.

Transport to the theme parks would include boat (MK) and bus (Epcot, AK, DHS).

The only thing missing would be the need for dramamine!

I like the Winter/Cold weather theme. Great for an escape from the nasty hot Florida summer weather!

What about a fairytale theme with building being designed like a castle and the individual rooms being themed for different fairytales?

How about an "under the sea" Little Mermaid/Nemo/Crush theme with aquariums, fountains, etc?:)

I would'nt mind seeing a few different resorts...one would be a Transportations theme... trains, planes, and automobiles. Disney could have different buildings featuring different modes of transportation... the lounge or restaurant could be like sitting in an old-time dining car or airplane. The pool could feature a lazy river decorated like a race car (think black bottom, yellow stripes).

I personally like the winter theme though, just thinking of cold weather in July can cool me off...

i also thought of the fairytale theme...centered around the castle idea...like the under the sea theme too. what about a frontier/old west theme (trying to make it feel different from WL or FW if that's possible)...and bring back the steam train for the kids (and adults) to ride!

oh and on the winter theme..i think something centered around the swiss alps, or a netherland town feel would be neat....kind of make it like epcot but on a grander scale

I had read something a long time ago (talking going back about 10+ years), when before the AllStars and Pop Century were around, that there was talk about building a resort themed around the Greek Islands. I would have loved to see that....guess it was just talk though.

I think a future themed resort would be great. Kind of like Tomorrowland meets NASA. The different building can be themed as different space stations. One can be on the moon, one on Mars, one on a space station, who knows. They can use moving sidewalks between buildings. I would also do a restaurant that was based on the vision of the future that was in Horizons. The Tomorrowland meets NASA would come in because there would be a mix of actual technology (at least architecturally) and that 1950’s vision of the future that Walt used to design Tomorrowland.

On a completely separate note, I always wanted that train that used to be in Silver Spoons. I think they should incorporate that into a resort!

The "under the sea" idea is a great one.

I was thinking something more Oriental. Maybe a Japanese village themed resort with plenty of cherry trees and Japanese gardens.

I don't know how child friendly it could be, but my vote is for an
Asian theme.

A dual resort (like Yacht and Beach Club) with one side being themed with Tower of Terror and the other the Haunted Mansion. The two themes (both on the "dark" side) would go great together. Can you imagine the bellmen at each place?

Oh, I really like that idea!

I really enjoy going to Epcot and visting all the countries. Why not incorparte that into a theme for a resort. Call it, "The World Resort". Disney is really good at mingiling multiple themes very close to each other and still keeping each seperated by using line-of-site tricks, etc. You could have a Moroccan theme, an Asian theme, A Greek Isle theme, European themes, etc etc etc. Think of the dining options you could have at one resort!!:)

Oh my god! I absolutely love this idea, who do we write? :rotfl:

I'd love something themed toward the planets and constellations. Something that might represent the "Green" movement would also be nice. Also, mythological themes would be fun too. So many possibilities...

A non-melting recreation of the popular ice hotels from Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Canada would be terrific. Of course, in Florida none of it could be made from actual ice, but recreations that don't melt - and don're require Guests to wear parkas 24/7 - would be a spectacular themed hotel anywhere.

Of course, the nearby Gaylord Palms resort has had a spectacular attraction called ICE! for the last 5 years or so, consisting of hand-carved ice sculptures of tremendous size and stunning beauty. An "ice hotel" at WDW could easily feature isolated cold rooms with similar exhibits, fountains with ice sculptures protected by air curtains, and even faux snow in the outdoor areas using the same soap-like technology that Disney uses for MVMCP, the Osbourne Lights, and at Celebration during the holidays. Imagine snow in July!

I was thinking a superhero theme like the Incredibles!

A Value or Moderate with each area representing a different Pixar film would be nice. Toy Story is already represented at ASMO, but Bug's Life, Nemo, Incredibles, and Wall-E would make for great Guest buildings. Rattatouille would be the food court. Cars would be the bus stops, check-in parking, and DME drop-off areas.

If it was a deluxe since they are based on locations (except for the Contemporary) I would love to see one based on Thailand or India with maybe a bit of a jungle book theme for the kids.

I was there a number of years ago and the architecture is amazing. And when the afternoon monsoons hit in the summer it would seem quite authentic.

Rhonna's idea of the Tower of Terror/Haunted Mansion resort is a great one!

I'd like to see one based on Morroco(a big beautiful deluxe), Scandinavia, or the old west (perhaps a value).
