New Resort in Cocoa Beach - Info anyone?

Seaspray - When I emailed the new resort about pricing, I mentioned that we are staying at the Radisson and free parking and shuttle service are included to the port. I specifically asked them what they could offer those of us who want to stay at their resort before cruising. Hopefully they will email me back today and I'll post what their reply is.

Smart thinking! I hope they get back to you soon with a reply. :)

Just called the resort and spoke with Tuesday.

She said reservations for June '04 is considered high season, so the studio suite is $130 plus tax.

Bad news about FREE parking while cruiseing, however - She said they can not have extended parking, except for the duration of your stay. She said the parking is very limited.

I forgot to ask about usage of their facilities for non-guests - sorry.

We are renting a car and returning it before the cruise so I was not woried about parking but I was certainly looking for a LOT cheaper than 130.00.. they never emailed me back, oh well back to bidding on priceline, I have 11 months to get my room :)

OK everybody - I just came from the new Ron Jon resort at the port - OMG what a beautiful place - I was in awe over it - they still are filling in empty places, but sure were husling to make it look the best yet - I spoke with 2 of the managers, Dan and Michelle and asked them a number of questions - one being if they offered shuttle or free parking and unfortunalty there was a no to both -
I have a copy of their menu which I am going to send to Dave so he can post it - I was offered a tour of the resort, but I just didn't have that much time - the water slide is connected to their large pool but that is all I could see - the restaurant looked nice and tropical - the rates are seasonal - they are rentals and time sharing - they are very protective about their guest so I doubt that anyone can just go in and use their "stuff" without being a guest - I met an older couple that were cruising today on the Sovereign and asked them about their stay and they said it was great - we traded information since they didn't know how to get to their cruising ship - I did ask if they would consider giving cruisers 10% off if I recommended them and this is when Dan said he would come by the shop and find out if I was for "real" - what ever that means - maybe they will - will let you know since he is suppose to come by sometime this week to check out the shop and this website - I spoke highly (I can't tell a lie so I told them the truth and that is what I always think about each of you anyway but the best) about this discussion board and the fact that Peter Werner was the inspiration for it - anyhow all I can tell you is that you will need a car or so type of transporation for it is far from everything - you still have to go to Cocoa Beach for Publix and Winn Dixie and etc - and dining of course is Grill's, Rusty's etc.
As I learn more, will let you know.
Their phone number is 888-933-3030 and the address is 1000 Shorewood Drive - local number is 321-783-1114 -
Anyhow I am going to take the tour sometime this week and will let you know more.
Until then
Always
Shirley

Hey now wouldn't that be great if they gave a Dis rate? I bet we could fill the place up every Friday night before the Magic sails, if they gave me a good rate I would stay there in a heartbeat!

And we would fill it on Wednesday and Saturday nights also. Bet Wednesday nights off season would be nice for them.

Thanks Shirley for checking it out and keep us informed if Dan does stop by the store.

Just got off the phone with a very helpful and nice lady named Del at this resort. We plan on heading down Thanksgiving day (11/24) and staying Thursday and Friday night. She averaged the cost of both nights for me and gave me a rate of $115/night for a Studio. One BR units (sleep 6) go for $190/night. I was going to book right then, but you have to pay for one night's stay when you book. We haven't made our flight arrangements so I didn't book, but will probably go ahead and do so anyway since it looks like such a great place to stay.

We also have the Radisson booked for $129 night (AAA rate, 1 BR King suite) so the price is the same for us at either location.

We will be renting a car and returning it near the port, so parking and a shuttle won't be a concern for us.

Can't wait to read the reviews of this resort. I hope they are as great at it looks!:sunny:

Does anyone know what the dates are for their different seasons? We'd be there the end of August.

Currently we're booked in a 2 King bed Suite at the Radisson for $129. We'd need a one bedroom unit at Ron Jon's for the same accomodations. If they have a restaurant on site, then all we'd need is a taxi or something to drive us to the port the next morning.

I spoke with Michelle and she was telling me that even tho they do not offer shuttle service at this moment, it is being looked into very seriously - I did read her some of the post off this thread - I am hoping that I can show them they are getting quite a bit of review and just maybe that will give them some clue that cruisers could use a little discount - will see

OMG just noticed I am almost up to 1000 posted and I thought I wouldn't get past number one :teeth:

Shirley, you are so sweet to take the time and effort to check this out for us, and even attempt to get us a discount! Thanks for all of your help!

I just spoke with a rep on the phone. She quoted me for one night/mid-May

Studio $100 plus tax
One bedroom $145 plus tax

The building is approx three blocks back from the beach for stays less then 7 nights. They have a building on the beach front but that is for longer stays.

This place definitedly has me interested. Currently have the Doubletree booked in Cocoa and we will have a car,so that wouldn't be an issue. Hmmmm, decisions, decisions.

Shirley, thanks for checking this out for us! :)

Three blocks from the beach???? I thought it was closer than that. I wonder how far of a walk it is from the farther building to the pools and lazy river area?

3 blocks from the beach??? Maybe Shirley can help us with this one. I thought the hotel had two buildings shaped like an L. One had ocean view, the other faced the pool complex. How far is the pool from the ocean? Could the resort really be 3 blocks long? Any thoughts?

I double checked with the reservation center this morning, they said one building is approx 3 blocks back from the beach and the other is ocean front. However, the “pool building” is also 3 blocks back. So for those cruising who will only be staying a night or two we would all have a short walk to the pool area, as it sounds like it is connected or adjacent to the short stay building.
They also said it is about a two-minute drive to the port.

Dave is correct - for you have to go up to George King Blvd, get off on to 528 then back off to go on to the terminals - if you do it in 2 minutes, you are going to have a policeman on your butt - now it is L shaped - you can walk out of the main complex and walk down the jetties to the ocean --- 3 blocks? I much doubt it since it is almost sitting on the beach - in fact when you leave the port - remember the jetties which is the last piece of land you see when you leave the port? well the next piece of property next to the jetties is the resort - Norm and I are going to have time this weekend to check it out - we have family coming down, but after they leave, we will check it out and get back to you -
Anyhow all have a great weekend and chat with ya soon

We took the plunge and booked a studio yesterday at RonJon, I think we will avoid the police tailing us to the port in the morning and play it safe with the five minute drive instead!:smooth:

I just called the resort because I was alittle confused. The building on the ocean (which is the one that we have for our 7 night visit in April) is about 2 blocks from the pool area. The girl on the phone said that this building is still on the resort property. It's not like you have to go across any streets or anything is what she said. She said it was hard to say exatly how far away it is, but the resort does have a trolly that runs around the property if you want to use it. I don't know about anyone else, but when I hear free trolly, that free entertainment for my kids. LOL. My kids are 5 and 4, and riding a trolly around the resort is alot of fun for them. Can't wait for someone to stay here, and give us a review.
