I'm thrilled that I was able to take advantage of this new general public code for Sept-AZZ- and save on my AS Movies ressie (55 +tax/night!). I'm just a bit disappointed that no AP rates were announced. I'm wondering if I should be worried that Disney released these savings to "everyone" to aggressively increase attendance for the month. Should I be worried about much higher crowds than normal in Sept because of this discount? We've only been previously in Oct and March, so I have yet to see how un-crowded it is in Sept. Any thoughts? I will post on the strategies board as well for additional thoughts....
TIA!

I really don't think you have anything to be worried about. My DH and I go to Disney every Sept, and have never had a problem with attendance. I have been to Disney during Thanksgiving AND Christmas/New Years time frames and Sept is a slow paced snail in comparison. The only tip I have to give you is avoid MK on Sat. We have learned our lesson the hard way. No way am I ever going to wait around 1.5 hours to ride Splash Mountain!!
Good luck on your trip~!:earsgirl: :earsboy:

We are going down in September because DH is attending a conference. We have never been down to WDW in the Fall. We went to Orlando last October but spent the week at US. I have been wondering what kind of crowds we were going to see, too.

We always go in Sept. Crowds are LOW except, as mentioned, MK on Saturdays. It is hot and humid, rains most every afternoon, it is wonderful!!!!

I too was very excited to get the discount for September (Ft. Wilderness), but am still hoping for AP rates. Am I crazy?

We went to WDW the last week of Sept before and the crowds are great. Some things we walked on and walked off. I especially like going to things during the fireworks/parades. There's NOBODY in them at those times. (we stay long enough to do the parades and fireworks on other days).

My thinking for this Sept is like this. If it was going to be really crowded, they wouldn't be offering the special deals, right? I think they could almost give the rooms away and people still wouldn't pull their kids out of school at the beginning of the year.

Just my thoughts.

There is a major drawback when going to Disney in Sept though: MK only stays open to 6 during the week, and then later on the weekends. And of course, the weekends are when we try to avoid MK. Also, the weekends are when the fireworks happen, so we have to fight crowds to see them. I was talking to my DH last night about the eyes on the tombstones at night at the Haunted Mansion, and how I never remember seeing them. He then proceeded to remind me that we had never been to MK at night except for the fireworks. That has made me want to just suck it up and head to MK on Sat night and do HM and BTM while people watch the fireworks.:cloud9: :mickeybar

Really? If you check the WDW website there are only 3 days in Sept that MK closes at 6:00 PM (Sept 9,10,11). The other days they are open until 8 or 9 PM.

Here's the link to their calendar:

Of course, your idea to do HM during the fireworks is a good one. That's the kind of stuff we do. It makes you feel like you know a "special" trick or something and you just sort of laugh at the crowd at the fireworks. Go see the eyes!!!

I am so glad you guys all posted your comments. I was worried about the crowds....so I'll stop doing that. I also thought they closed at 6:00p each day....that will be good to be able to stay later! I'll schedule us to NOT do MK on Saturdays...that will work just fine.

Thank you all so much for your help. I am trying to plan our trip to get the most out of each day and so the rest of the family does not feel so structured. (They've already told me they want to just do the days as they come, no planning - they should no I can't do that!)

Nuzmom, thanks for the update. I am so happy to hear that MK is open later than 6pm when we are there.
MtBlu- good luck on your trip. I know I used to make the mistake of planning out EVERYTHING before we went. I am a planner by nature (get that from my military father) but I found out once again- the hard way, that planning doesn't mean perfection. It always seems like the days we plan on going to a certain park never works out. Also, I know everyone loves to make dinner reservations on-site, but one of our most memorable eating experiences was at The Melting Pot. Bob and I love fondue, but to find a resturant that only serves it?!? Heaven! And come to find out, there is a Melting Pot two cities over from us that we now go to on special occasions. :earseek:

I do have a question on Sept rates though. We are staying at Homewood Suites, and was wondering if there were any other places to find codes for off-site. I am quite happy with the rate we found, but if it could be cheaper, than that would be a bargain!

Thanks again for all the information provided on this thread!

Hi,

I too was happy to get the $55 night for POP century....which was a lower price than the $68 with AAA discount. I think the MK closes earlier those nights because they are having Night of Joy which the park is open 7-midnight for...::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

I know you are right. I am hopelessly trying to plan everything in such a way that the guys don't know it is planned out!! :rotfl: I don't know how people make those reservations for dinner months ahead of time....I am having trouble trying to decide where we would be for dinner to make those reservations! Oy-Vey!!

I think I am going to try to plan the first four or five days of our trip according to when that park opens early (if they do that time of year) because DH will be with us as his convention won't start until later in the week. That will leave the last part of the week we are there open to whatever anyone wants to do.....heaven help me!!

HI everyone,

I am sorry if this is a dumb question, but when using the discount code for September, are you contacting the WDW resort number directly and giving the code over the phone?

Yes. I told them I wanted to check on room availability for (my) dates, at the resort I want, using the discount code. First, they took my name & address info (they check to see if you are in their computers - if you are, they update your info). They look it up and tell you if those dates, at that resort, for that rate, is available. In my case, she said the dates were available and she gave me the total, including tax. I asked her what that worked out to per night and she quoted me back the rate I was expecting with the discount code (I just wanted to make sure the rate matched the code). She started to explain the deposit to me (they want 1 night's stay for deposit - in my case that would be $85.00), but I went ahead and paid for it with my Disney Visa (and I told her I would be using my Disney Visa). They are very friendly when you call, but they do go about the process the way they need to and if you are not expecting some of the questions, it may seem weird. I think they must keep your family in their computer forever and that is the first thing they want, that identifying info, as they help you with questions or reservations.

I too got the new rate but without the code. I saw a commercial on TV and called the number shown and got the rate on my preexisting reservation.

Woo Hoo!
