"New" reservations system? Will faxing be obsolete?

Disney's entire system of assigning rooms is currently undergoing a metamorphosis. Recently, the Disney Reservations Center (DRC), which is comprised of both the Walt Disney Travel Company (WDTC) and the Central Reservations Office (CRO), had a new reservations computer system put online. This program will mesh seamlessly with the forthcoming new property management computer system that the Disney resorts will be using. Once that resort program is online, the need for faxing room requests will be unnecessary at all the resorts.

Sorry, another faxing question ... Faxing seems to still be alive and well at most resorts, correct? Anyone have some "insider" knowledge on the status of the "metamorphosis" described on AllEars nearly a year ago now? Technical-talk is OK by me . Seems like an end to faxing would have benefitted everyone a long time ago.

What is it about the new system that makes faxing obsolete (you've always been able to make requests with CRO, correct)? Are some resorts on a newer system than others?

My impression is that faxing is "alive and well" on the faxer side. At some resorts faxes may be read at others they go in that round thing under the desk! LOL!

Faxing was banned at DVC resorts last year I believe. There was a notice about that on the official DVC site then.

I agree that most here think faxing is the way to go. Most of the resorts are ignoring them.

Best thing to do is have your requests noted in your reservation.

We've been to WDW many times and not once I have fax any to them. I give the CRO all my request at the time of booking.

So far just about all my request have been met, even down to the room #! and what section, what floor. When I check-in, I just tell them what I have requested initially. They are very accomodating. I'm happy. Will I ever fax, probably not.

Never fax here either. I just made a ressie for July this week and after I was done, the CM asked me if there was anything I needed to have noted on my reservation in regard to preferences. Of course, non-smoking and a refrigerator where the only 2 things I added. That was for WL.
