We are planning a Christmas 2008 family trip at BWV, needing a GV and a 2 br unit. DB and I both own there. Today we were able to transfer his Sept 07 points into my Oct 07 account, but were told we had to wait until Sept 07 to transfer his 08 points to my 08 account. This took a very long time, as MS put us on hold numerous times and we seemed to wait a long time for the process to complete.

But at the end, MS told us we also had to either email of fax a letter to MS requesting the transfer. This needs to be done within 48 hours we were told. Has anyone else experienced this?

You won't be able to do the 2007 transfer until the use year starts for 2007 most likely. Why not just book the GV under one account and the 2 BR under the other. You can even do some days under one account and others from the other account and link them. It's unlikely you need to do that much transferring to accomplish your goals. And the rule has always been that transfers need to be confirmed in writing and allowing it be email is being very generous IMO.

I think MS limits transfers to only the current and next Use Year. Since you are both in your 2006 Use Year, they allowed a 2007 transfer, but 2008 is too far out to transfer until you are in your 2007 Use Year.

I agree with Dean's suggestion to just reserve part of the trip using your points and the remainder using your DB's points. MS can link everything together and you'll have just what you need for the trip.

Enjoy!

I have successfully linked reservations from 2 members. I had a trip this past year where I reserved nights 1, 3 & 4 and my friend reserved night 2 (Friday). We linked the reservations and it was seemless, we even had the dining plan.

Thanks for your replies. I was most surprised about sending the transfer request in writing. I had never heard of this requirement.

We thought it best if I do all the reservations due to my brother's varied work schedule. This will be for a GV at BWV over Christmas, so day-by-day right at 9 AM will be needed.

Thanks........Laura

I too had to send a fax confirmation when I transferred points to a friend.

I think it is just a paper trail for them (otherwise known as CYA).

Why not just ask yor brother to list/add you to his contract as an Associate? You'll be able to make reservations from his account, but will have no ownership rights. He can take you off again (I think) after the trip. Might be worth a call to Member Accounting to see if that would work.

FWIW, I think transfers can be a pain in the rear especially if you want/need to make day by day reservations at the 11 month mark.
