New quick service plan a good deal?

DD10 and I are going to be at WDW Jan. 31- Feb. 7 (POFQ) and I keep thinking about whether the new quick service plan would be good for us. We have had the free DDP in the past and really enjoyed it, but are looking forward to not being "tied down" to the ADR's this go around. So, we will be eating most (probably all) of our meals at CS locations. DD is a good eater and would probably order "adult" meals most of the time. I am curious to hear what others are thinking about the new QS plan....is it a good deal?

I do love the idea of spending our extra snack credits at Goofy's in DTD and of not worrying about looking at the prices of everything!!!! However, I think the DTD restaurants are not even on the 2009 list of locations for the DDP yet (I read somewhere they will probably be added closer to Jan??) I sure hope so....we plan to spend plenty of time at DTD since we will have the boat there from POFQ.

TIA for your help!

Pam :)

I am torn with this one too. If I price it out without desserts, there are few places where you can really come out ahead. But for most, (again w/o the desserts) I can't make the numbers work.

I don't want a dessert after every single meal. And the snack credits, I would rather just buy what we want rather than feel I NEED to buy it to use up the credits. I would not normally got to goofy's and buy multiple snacks.

What I did was set up a spread sheet and went through the DIS Menus and figured out what we would normally eat. ANd compared it to the price of the plan. We usually do not get the mug either.

good luck and let us know what you decide! :)

We really like the idea and had been hoping that Disney would do something like this.

Could we go and eat plenty and spend less? Yes
Will we enjoy eating anything on the menu and not worrying about cost and having dessert? Yes

That all being said the primary reasons I like this plan is the freedom from carrying cash and the ability to allow our teenage daughters and their friends the freedom to do "their own thing".

Our family is trying it in January.

How about paying OOP. With a 10yo you may end up sharing a lot of CS meals and not need all those credits. So instead of eating 4 CS meals a day you may only eat 3 with sharing. Even at $15 per CS meal (high estimate) that's only $45/day for the two of you. So many decisions!

By the way, my calcs say for your trip you'd have to get 2 drinks per day at the resort in addition to the DP drinks to make the mug worth it for a 7 night stay. That would have been a lot for me, even in August (I drank a lot of water).

Could someone tell me where I could find more info on the counter service plan? I've never heard of this before and am interested in pricing for December and possibly next April. Thanks.

brittsmom, the plan isn't avail until Jan 2009. The plan is $26.99 for adults 10 and up and I believe $9.99 for children 3-9. For that you get 2 CS meal per night, 2 snacks, and 1 refillable mug.

I think this is going to be a great option for me and DH, especially when we go in June for my birthday. Before mom passed away, she and I would share a CS meal or combo and DH would get his own, but now I don't have anyone to share it with, and it makes more sense and in the heat, I can us it to get more of those crazy popsicles.

I stand corrected. I was guessing off the top of my head. Thank you
