New Purchase of DVC questions

I plan to go to WDW in October. While there, I plan to look at the Beach Club. Question, I heard somewhere that if you were staying on property during a trip and you purchased, they would pick up the hotel bill. Is this true. Also, if I want to stay in Oct, should I buy for Dec, in order to get the 11 month lead on reservations?

I'm thinking about trying for a resale of boardwalk, since it's not being offered, other than financing, are there major disadvantages to resales?

They will not pick up your bill. They used to allow you to purchase and then use your points for your stay. I don't know if that is still available.

Not sure that they rebate your hotel stay anymore- you'd have to check with DVC for that info. I kind of doubt it at this point as BCV has sold very well. And if you buy a resale the point is moot anyway. Use year determines when you receive points, reservations are always available 11 months from your check out day at your home resort and 7 months from non- home DVC resorts. Some believe it is useful to get a use year around the time you travel because if you have to cancel it gives you more time to rebook or bank your points into the next year. Points can be borrowed into the current use year, banked into the next year, so at any one time you can have up to 3 years points available to use. Reservations are made based on the points available to you at the time you will be visiting. With resales, you need to determine value based on points available in the contract- have some been borrowed, what's available to use now, etc. Only difference is you won't get member # until after you close on resale. With direct purchase, you get member # right away and are able to make reservations as soon as they receive your deposit. You can not bank or borrow however until you close with either purchase.
