New pricing method by disney resorts?

I've heard some rumors, and looking one the disney site when you price out a room, it now gives you a breakdown of the price for each day of your trip. I guess they are gonna do pricing the way they do DVC, where you still have seasons, but Fri & Sat's are more expensive than the rest of the week.

I wonder if that happens, how it will affect the different discounts they normally offered during the year, as the discounts wouldn't seem as great.

I know looking at the DVC point charts, a fri or sat is 70-90% higher than sun-Thu.

I can't imagine paying $99 at POP Sun-Thu and then getting nailed $170 or higher on Fri & Sat.

My prediction for the new pricing system is the prices are going to be roughly the same for people staying a week or longer at the hotel. They will probably lower the weekday prices a little and raise the weekend prices a little. Maybe raise overall prices 3-5% as they do every year.

I also predict this thread gets moved. :rotfl2:

yes they are going up - but I haven't heard figures like that.

assuming the percentage that the rest of Orlando is charging.

From what I've read the main adjustment is for people who book on the last day of value season, say in December, and then it turns into holiday season. In the past the whole trip has been at the value season rate. Now that will not be the case. The rates will be a day by day thing, not depending on what season it was the first night.

At least one of your predictions has come true.

;)

IN all seriousness, I think you'll see that the rates Sunday to Thursday are lower and the rates on the weekend are higher as compared to this year. Overall, expect a 3 to 5% increase on top of that.

So .. to make the math simple..

A room in value season is 82$ currently. Doesn't matter what day. 7 night stay is 574$ not including tax.

I think you'll see Sunday to Thursday that room may be something like 75$ or even 69$ and then on Sat or Sun that will jump somewhere between 130 to 150.

That would balance a weeks stay to be roughly the same as this year.. except for the 3 to 5% increase.

At every other hotel/resort I've stayed at, they had higher prices for weekends. I have always been amazed that Disney didn't do this.
