New (possibly) swap idea....

While I appreciate the thought, I don't think DFJ is going to be able to wait until May! ;) If you wait 2 or 3 weeks before you start I should be in great shape....I just wasn't sure I could do it if you started this week.

Why don't you decide once a few more people have chimed in about a time frame for starting? I'll still participate even if you start tomorrow - as long as it isn't due before April 24th I'll be fine.

I don't know which is more exciting....Standing in line for these rides or waiting for the swap to begin!!! :bounce: :bounce:

You know.....that might make a good category! "Standing in line!" :rotfl:

What a hoot!! Should we add that to the list for the swap? After all, that is an integral part of every ride there! :rotfl:

Hi - a ride swap sounds fun. I would like to know how these work is there a sticky some where that tells how it goes ? Thnaks Michelle

No, but there should be. We all have the same questions it seems. ;) I'm working on things for my second swap now, so I don't know a lot but here goes.

The hostess posts a list of elements from which you can choose. There are details for some (like borders need to be 11" & vertical) and other things are kind of up to you. Some items you will make only 1 (like shaker box) and others you'll do 2 (tags) or even 4. (embellished square) There are 2 groups - each with the same set of elements. This way you get to swap more items if you want. You can sign up for one or both, but you're supposed to use the same theme if you do both.

When the swap closes, you'll be told how many of each item to make.
You sign up with the item you want to make & the theme you'll use - so we're not all making things for Splash Mountain. It's usually between 20 & 24 people so that would be 20 shaker boxes, 40 tags or 80 squares.

You'll get a PM with the hostesses address & a due date. When you finish your items, you package everything up & send it via Priority Mail with either a stamp for return postage or cash (hidden well). Everything goes into plastic bags in case it gets delivered in the rain. (My last envelope was soaked! but the stuff inside was fine.) Be sure to use the cardboard envelope, not the mylar one as mail carriers like to squish things.

If you have any specific questions during the swap, either post them or PM someone who has participated in the past. Everyone here is so sweet & extremely helpful! :teeth:

Oh - and here are links to the stuff made during 3 of the park swaps. It's very helpful to see what others have done! ;)

Looks like we've got quite a few of ya'll interested in the Ride Swap. How about we let the Cruise Swap get underway (or should I say leave port to sail? ;) ), and then maybe in a week or two we'll get started. In the meantime, you can jot down some ideas while those creative juices are flowing. There's so many rides, and so many ways to do them---I think we'll all have fun with this!

Disneyfreakjackie, can you hang on a little longer? I promise it won't be too long. :goodvibes

I forgot to add---that standing in line idea is really sticking with me. That's such a cute idea! Maybe we really should include that along with the theme for rides.

Hi, I think I might be interested in this also. I wanted to do the cruise swap, but I am new to this swap stuff and you guys are so quick on this site   So I will know soon if I am too late for the cruise one and then would love to try the ride one. I will neww some help so you guys get what you want. To make sure I get in do I need to pm someone or keep checking to see whan to sign up? Thanks, Angel

Angel, what I'll do is post ahead of time what day and time to look for sign-ups. I'm just trying to give everyone a few days to finish up with the character swap, and also let the cruise swap get underway, and then we'll be good to go!

I hope we all have lots of fun with this swap!

Hi Piratesmate.. Thanks it sounds like fun

Sweet Maxine - I will be on the look out for sign ups

I will look for the sign ups. I love to scap and I love all things Disney! :cool1:

You guys are soo funny. You would think we were all going to Disney, rather then signing up for swaps. I thought I would pass on this one, but who knows. I need something to keep me busy for the summer. ANd I will have just come back from Disney with even more pictures to scrap. So I would be interested in the ride one also. ( shaking her head , wondering if she has lost her mine ).

Well in the fact that I havent been to WDW since all the swaps started (except for the 1st DAK) Ive just learned to organize them all and keep going :) (course I have to get a new 2 inch binder for the next few...)
I have used a few for my DL trips... (I'm one of the few DL more than WDW kids here) but I know my next WDW trip will be pre scrapped ;)

I am working on my character swap stuff this weekend... This is my first swap and :cool1: I would definiely like do another one!!!

Would ya'll like to start the Ride Swap next weekend, and then we'll have it due the 1st weekend in June, or we can bump it back to the middle of April, then be due the 8th of June? That would give us all about 7 - 8 weeks to work on our stuff---sound okay?

The cruise one is due June 1st , could we bump it back a few days ?

Cyndi

I'm interested in the ride swap also, but would also like to bump it back some. I am presently working on the character and cruise swaps at the moment.

Okay, what about starting the first of May, and due the first of July? I'm just trying to see what is going to work best for everyone, because I realize so many of us are getting ready to leave for vacations. I also see that some of the people from the cruise swap will possibly want to participate, and that would allow for more people to join in.

This will be my first swap to host, so I don't want to leave out anyone that wants to participate, and I don't want to overwhelm anyone who is busy working on things for another swap. That can really get to be too much work. I also see that there are quite a few people interested in a second cruise swap, so how should we work all of this in?

This will be my first swap, so I'm ready to start but I totally understand about people's busy schedules. Thank you for putting this together.

That would work for me and the Cruise swap Part II could be for July/August with a due date of September 1st. That way people can allow for vacation and just before school starts.( We have done this before with a season swap, and with the park swaps ).
