New Points for Disneyland- anyone going?

Have the lowered nightly point requirements inspired anyone to go to disneyland?

we are considering it- but have not been reading such great things about disneyland, or the disney hotels.

any thoughts?

Our first use of our DVC points will be GC in Sept. We won't make a habit of using our points there, but we LOVE DLR and find it to be just as magical of a place as WDW, but it is like comparing apples and oranges....so don't try! IMHO, you have not really experienced Disney if you haven't gone to the original Magic Kingdom at least once....(I do like that much loathed DCA, too!)

It was not so much the lower points (heck, I didn't even know they were lowered) that have inspiried our trip there as it was the ease of traveling to California vs. Florida for a quick Disney trip.

We're thinking about trying the Disneyland Hotel this summer. That is if I haven't waited too long to book...

I just booked two rooms at DLH for 3 nights. DH wants to go, I don't, but I'll go with him because I expect him to go with me to WDW. I'll just try to read posts that make me want to go. Afterall it's still Disney no matter what state it's in

We've stayed at the GC hotel there, and it is 1st class all the way. Much like the WL hotel at WDW.

DL itself is a great park. The Pirates of the Caribbean ride there is better than the version at WDW.

CA is new and is still growing, and it will take the vegetation awhile to fully develop. But it's a different park than any of the four WDW parks and has it's own special attractions.

Only way to know for sure is to go there and decide for yourself whether you like it or not.

I have been wanting to go to CA for a while. The new lower points will definately influence my on-site vs. off-site decision. 2007 may be the year I go out west (if I can get cheap air fare).

We live 15 min. from DL and spend enormous amount of time there. CA is a wonderful park and is still a quite place since so few people know it exists. The locals use it as our regular park. All our neighbors have annual passes and still go to the hotels to stay the night on a regular basis. It a much smaller version of WDW so you can’t compare the two. We call it charming! Visit Newport Beach, Laguna Beach (don’t watch the stupid shows on TV because that is not us!) Go to Goofy’s kitchen and don’t miss Granville’s at the D-land hotel. Also, the Blue Bayou restaurant at the Pirates of the Caribbean – get the Monte Cristo sandwiches. Come enjoy our beautiful weather, food, beaches and all the other wonderful reasons we pay such high prices for real estate.

Are the DL points lower for 2007 too? I know they are lower for 2006, but we won't make it to CA this year. But we'd seriously consider it next year if points are low enough...

The point charts are out for DL in 2007 and the point requirements have been lowered again. DLH is available for a little as 19 points.

Now that we're in Phoenix, and DLR is a reasonable drive away, we're planning on a stay at the GC (Sun-Thurs, of course ). We stayed there once in 2002 (side note: were were at DL on 9/11/2002 - very moving rememberance ceremony) and the GC was great!

I don't think there is a point difference at DL but I'm too tired to get up & look.

I booked a trip this summer to visit my sister with my brother and staying at the GC for three days. I've been before but my brother & nephew have never been able to afford any Disney parks so I'm real excited to be able to share this with them.
