I still must be missing something. Here is the breakdown:

Check-in: Fri 11/26, Check-out: Sat 12/5

Point Costs: BWV GV

Fri - 11/26: 130 points
Sat - 11/27: 96 points
Sun - 11/28: 79 points
Mon - 11/29: 79 points
Tue - 11/30: 79 points
Wed - 12/1: 74 points
Thu - 12/2: 74 points
Fri - 12/3: 94 points
Sar - 12/4: 94 points
------------------------------
total: 799 points

And this is what I get when I enter those dates into the utility.... Does anyone see where these calculations go wrong?

You are using the calculator found here: DVC Points Comparison Utility right? Just want to make sure we aren't chasing two different problems! :)

No matter what, that sounds like a GREAT vacation! Those BWV GV's are awesome! :)

As I understood his post, he is using the DIS Points Calculator - the one accessed with the link posted at the top of the DVC Forum page. There have been problems with that calculator, especially for the holidays that are not on the same date every year. Anyway, he's not using your utility.

P.s. Cool untility. Thanks for sharing it with us!

Tagrel - this is awesome! I have bookmarked the page too. I like the idea of knowing the amount of points depending upon which resort we stay in and the villa size. Thanks so much! Annmarie

Thanks for the program...........now I have Caskbills,Dave Fredrikson's and yours Tagrel.

Just checked your annual total for all resorts and it agrees with the annual report my program produces exactly, so I'd say you've got the formulas all correct.

Also the 799 BCV GV calculation is correct.

Nice job.

Have you tried my planner at all?

I sure have Bill - its great! I don't have the latest version, I'll need to update. :) And thanks for comparing my totals. :) Its always good to get an independant verification! ::yes::

I created this mainly to play with PHP and MySql - and I wanted an online tool that I could use to compare across the various resorts. And for SOME reason they won't let me install your software at work! :teeth: (Well, they won't let us install ANY outside software, so it isn't just yours!) ;)

Thanks for checking it out for me!

I thought it was very slow.

I liked seeing the comparison, without having to enter data multiple times (as I do with the calculator at the top of this page).

However, I like the way the calculator, at the top of this page, breaks down the points by date, so I can easily see how to manipulate my dates to get within the points I want to spend.

The calculations were correct for the dates I tried.

If you just tried it in the last few minutes, the slowdown was a server issue. I think they were having problems. Its actually pretty fast even when calculating the entire year (when the server isn't busy anyway!) :)

I'm also planning on implementing your other comment. That is, once you have the current list - I hope to then provide a daily breakdown of point costs by clicking on the Resort name or Room Type. Thats just in the design phase though... :)

(Oh - and I'm looking at adding a calendar for date selections) :)

Thanks again to everyone for the tests and feature ideas. Its a definite work in progress, so there is LOTS of room for enhancements/improvements.

:D Hey this is cool! Thanks for your efforts with this. It was great to see the comparison in points in one place! I'm forever chicken-scratching on scraps of paper to do this.

Thanks!
Sammy

Feature request ... ?

Now that we know how many points our stay will require ... how about adding the first day to make the reservation? (11 month and 7 month windows)

Thanks! :)

Another nice functionality, would be to accept as input
- maximum points available to spend
- Desired date window
- number of guests

then give as output
- options for using up to the maximum points within the desired time window.

Maybe it could even advise a person that if they shifted the dates by a few days, they could save points. This might work when the dates are very close to a change of season, or if the person is requesting less then 7 consecutive dates and are including weekend days.

This tool is awesome! Thank you so much for taking your own personal time to help so many of us...much appreciated.
