A big thumbs down. We're mostly in the Sun-Thur crowd - we just got hit with a hefty point increase for a BWV 2-bd during the times we usually go.

I don't like the way the re-allocations were not announced at all. As far as the new charts, I compared our usual travel plans and came up with a net difference of one point per year to Disney, so no practical impact on me.

I haven't seen them yet. Are the ones here on the Dis the new ones?

I did the math and for our last trip and the one we had planned this year, the points ended up being exactly the same...however these were both 10-12 night trips. We have a short one planned for next year and now it will cost us 20 more points than expected :scared:

So for us personally, the short trip few day trip we had always planned on doing in the future will be out. I think this is really bad for a ton of DVC members who liked to do Sun-Thurs.

The vacation we just took last week (our first Sun to Thurs) went from 80 to 95 points...

I just recalculated our planned trip for this year using the 2010 chart and it ended up saving us 4 points. Based on the way we plan our vacation around the kids' school schedules, we always end up coming down for a long weekend, so it's a better deal for us.

That is what I think I will do. I did answer that I don't like the changes, because I don't like it when they start changing things as often as they have been doing lately. However, I just booked our December 2009 trip and with the new charts I could have saved 7 points, but o9ur trip we took last May would have cost me 13 more points. I realize that those are not large amounts of points, but it can make a difference of staying one more day in some cases. I think I will wait and see. Right now to get out of Illinois, I would gladly use the new charts!:beach:

Since the charts were removed from the site, do we think that there may have been errors on them? Or that they might not be the final ones for 2010?

We always knew that DVC could reallocate points. But if they increase them somewhere, they must decrease them somewhere else on the chart.

I voted "it doesn't bother me". I usually stay Saturday to Friday, my 2 annual trips are 3 and 5 more points. I really think the points difference was too high for weekend nights. I could definitely see a difference in the number of people at the hotels on Saturday vs Sunday to Friday.

One part I don't understand that actually benefits me is leaving the seasons the same. I've gone many times the first week of December, it's always soldout but they left it in Adventure season? Same thing with Food & Wine, it's in choice. But then May is in dream and it's usually a quiet time.

The part that does bother me is the way it was announced (or now unannounced perhaps). They should have given more advance notice, I think for 2010 it should have been announced last summer.

I also voted doesn't bother me because I know we are adding on and we always stay part of a weekend anyway.

I don't see it affecting us much, maybe a point here or there, but I am not opposed to weekends. In some ways I think it will be better for the long run, more people on the weekends will eventually free up availability. There are so many posts about how weekends are usually available, but no weeknights.

It will still be cheaper during the week, just not "dirt" cheap. I answered it doesn't affect me much.

I'm not happy with the proposed points (should the 2010 chart be correct), I had mine set for 2 yearly trips Sun-Thurs 'n now I have to adjust.

From the DVC site:

On January 21 a version of the 2010 Vacation Point Charts was incorrectly posted. An updated version will be made available within the next week. Members with valid email addresses on record will receive an email when the new charts are available. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Does effect us too much since we typically go for a full week.

I don't like the change, but I can't say I didn't expect it. I am also more of a Sun - Thurs. person.

As we have not yet been able to use our points (AKV Kidani), the fact that they already changed and if we were given the option to purchase what we need now, we would have we are VERY displeased. It's a small difference in the number of points, but it means more work borrowing points every year to ensure we have enough, etc, etc, etc, and eventually having to transfer points from someone else.

I like it since we usually stay 7 days and we are there Friday and Saturday. It used to kill me to use the high point weekends and I debated whether or not to book a value during the weekend, but it seemed like so much work and it would take away the magic in a way. Now it won't seem as bad. It will cost me only 2 points more for the week, but now I would have to freak out so much at the cost of the weekend nights.

The timing of it is really poor. People that now would need to add on just had the price increased on the 15th. If you purchased an add on last week and had known about the the change could have added on more points now it costs more.
