There won't be a kiosk pickup option for annual passes anymore.
Did I miss another update?? As far as I know you go to group sales after June 19 and last I hear it was indefinite to how long that will last. I figure they'll keep it that way for a while to, like you said, keep the crowds away from guest services.During June you can go to Group Sales to pick up the new pass, and I would assume after that you can go to Guest Services. Universal is probably just trying to keep the huge lines away from Guest Services so they can assist as many Guests as possible and not have someone have to wait longer than needed.

I think it's only at the JP Discovery Center and Cafe La Bamba on Friday - Sunday dates. All other dates would be at the IOA Group Sales office.Yep, you are right.

Every day, starting Friday, June 3 through Sunday, June 19

10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Where?
Universal’s Islands of Adventure - Jurassic Park Discovery Center
Universal Studios – Café La Bamba
After that, is group sales at IOA.
However, in any event where you want or need to replace your pass (e.g.: if it’s lost or stolen), you will receive a plastic pass and must surrender your current pass.
I stand corrected, I'm not sure where I got the Friday-Sunday thing? Maybe it was originally like that? It just seems like an awful long time to have someone at the JPDC and Cafe La Bamba.
No pictures, no printed name, the new passes come pre-made and are scanned to be activated, similar to the dining plan cards. Your name will be hand written on the back in permanent marker. It doesn't look like they are RF enabled either, so there's little chance of RFID scanners coming to Universal anytime soon.
