This is exciting news! I'm not going in June as it is simply too hot for me. So, I'll just have to get it at another time unfortunately. Hopefully it's relatively easy, even though I'm not going at their specific time they seem to have set in June.

During June you can go to Group Sales to pick up the new pass, and I would assume after that you can go to Guest Services. Universal is probably just trying to keep the huge lines away from Guest Services so they can assist as many Guests as possible and not have someone have to wait longer than needed.

Did I miss another update?? As far as I know you go to group sales after June 19 and last I hear it was indefinite to how long that will last. I figure they'll keep it that way for a while to, like you said, keep the crowds away from guest services.

I think it's only at the JP Discovery Center and Cafe La Bamba on Friday - Sunday dates. All other dates would be at the IOA Group Sales office.

New Passes will be available at both Universal Orlando Resorttheme parks daily during special pick-up times, starting June 3. Here are the details on how to pick up your new Annual Pass:

• Jurassic Park Discovery Center (outside, lagoon side) – Universal’s Islands of Adventure
• Café La Bamba (outside, porch) – Universal Studios Florida

Dates Available for Pick-Up

• Daily: June 3-19

We thought you might have a few questions that would be frequently asked, so here are our answers:

Do I have to switch from my current pass to a plastic pass?
No, you do not have to switch from your current pass to a new plastic pass. Even if you renew, you can keep your current pass. However, in any event where you want or need to replace your pass (e.g.: if it’s lost or stolen), you will receive a plastic pass and must surrender your current pass.

Can I keep my paper pass and get a plastic pass, so I can use either pass to enter the parks?
If you choose to get a plastic pass, you will need to surrender your current pass and it will become inactive.

How much will it cost for me to get a plastic pass?
There will be no cost for you to get your new pass.

Where will I be able to switch out my pass?
Daily from June 3 through June 19, you can pick up your new plastic pass at the Café La Bamba (outside patio) at Universal Studios or the Jurassic Park Discovery Center landing (outside) at Islands of Adventure between 10am and 6pm.

Can I bring my family member’s pass to switch out or do they have to be present?
All Passholders must be present with their ID in order to receive their new pass.

How do I get my plastic pass if I can’t make the June 3-19 pick-up dates?
After June 19, you can pick up your new plastic pass at the Group Sales window at Islands of Adventure between 9am and 4pm daily.

I stand corrected, I'm not sure where I got the Friday-Sunday thing? Maybe it was originally like that? It just seems like an awful long time to have someone at the JPDC and Cafe La Bamba.

I think you might have read Friday thru Sunday real quick.

I went back through my notes, and originally they did have it set up for only select days June 3 - June 19. Specifically June 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19. Which is the Friday through Sunday dates. They must have changed things recently to allow for more dates. I guess they had enough people say they weren't going to be able to make it on just the weekends.

No pictures, no printed name, the new passes come pre-made and are scanned to be activated, similar to the dining plan cards. Your name will be hand written on the back in permanent marker. It doesn't look like they are RF enabled either, so there's little chance of RFID scanners coming to Universal anytime soon.
