New plastic passes!

Just saw this on their Twitter feed (that's a thing, right? I'm so not tech-savvy!)

They posted pics of the new APs...PLASTIC! WOOT!

UO has been working on the plastic cards for sometime
The tyvek for the AP was not a favorite

Hmmm....maybe that is why they have been saying no AP pickup at the kiosks lately! Maybe the kiosks can't print out the plastic passes.

ooh, maybe I'll ask for a new one, since my original tyvek one seems to have seen better days, and I can barely read the numbers. I hope they don't charge me, and at least they look a little more colorful than my very beat up one of a generic USO globe.

I have a plastic pass as well with picture on it (04) but my wife has a paper
pass but it says on the faq:Where will I be able to switch out my pass?
Fridays through Sundays from June 3 through June 19, you can pick up your new plastic pass at the Café La Bamba (outside patio) at Universal Studios or the Jurassic Park Discovery Center landing (outside) at Islands of Adventure between 10am and 6pm.
We will not be there till late Sept. don't say anything about other dates.

According to Jessica Hale on Facebook.... If you can't make the dates then you can pick it up at the group sales ticket window at islands of adventure.

We will be there this weekend, and are planning on upgrading our regular passes to AP's. I wonder if we'll receive the plastic ones?

They're not going to charge you. They're updating everyone for free. They're also doing special AP pick up dates at special locations inside the parks. In the middle of June. That should be hot.. I mean fun! I'm sure we will be able to pick them up at any time at a ticket window though.

Definitely not tech-savvy here. I stumbled on to that twitter post when I clicked on someone else's Kong link...no Twitter, face chat, snap pic, whatever here. I only have a facebook account for invites to family bday parties,

My real concern is how much will the charge be to replace the pass if it's lost? Right now for the paper passes it's $10 after the first time, but I would expect they would increase that reprint fee based on the material cost of the plastic passes.

they don't charage if the barcode is not readable.

with the new plastic ap cards, i would think they would redo others who request it early prior to their renewal.

if someone is not local, i would think if you told them that they would issue you the new ap cards.

i know they had a small charge if you lost your ap and replaced it.
for the tyvek ap's that were unreadable, there was no charge.

if they are doing all new ap's with the plastic cards, get yours down soon.
if you lost it, i'm assuming they will replace it with the new plastic one without any charges.

I'm very curious to find out how this works with the kiosk pick up. I feel like they used to issue you something and then you had to take that something to guest services to get your pass with your picture made. New passes won't have picture... But wondering if you'll get a paper one at the kiosk then have to go to GS to pick up your plastic.

Not that it matters to me. But might add an additional step for others. Maybe he kiosks can handle plastic. Dunno
