New Pirates with Jack - HATED IT!!

something i dont think i heard when i rode it this past Oct. was the pirate saying "dead man tells no tales" or something along those lines. was that still there ? I thought that was pretty cool when you heard that and kinda creepy.

Yes, that scene was entirely unchanged as far as I could tell.

Now it is a lot more "intense" than it was. Last year my DS liked it. This year the waterfall, dark drop w/no warning (I forgot) and skeletons scared him. I'm a big fan of both movies (first much more than second), and probably would have enjoyed the ride much more had I not been trying to distract/reassure the little guy! I would caution parents of toddler age kids...

I loved all the changes except for the "dunking scene" disneysteve refers to -the wife no longer opens the window to tell her husband "don't be cheekeen".
DD10 agrees with the poster who said they need to add Will Turner!

Actually, the wife still does come out and tell her husband to not be chicken.

When you go into the cave, before Davy Jones, it's still there. I actually just checked on YouTube to be sure and it's definitely still there. You can hear it on the audio.

The other thing, and my wife noticed this too, is that the overall dialogue volume was lower. Maybe we just caught it on a bad day, but it was much harder to hear what was being said and sung. That's part of why I thought Yo Ho wasn't as prominent. The 3 guys who stand on the left (near the donkey) used to sing out loud. Yesterday, I could barely hear them. I used to sing along there and I couldn't anymore.

Probably sound problems. I've heard them, but I've noticed similar incidents in The Haunted Mansion. I've been on three times where the doll at the end doesn't talk, but just moves her lips. And I went in October and one of the singing heads was not projecting.

that disappoints me to hear. I was under the impression that they only added in the characters and left the rest alone............

We loved it and think it is a great rehab to this ride. The Davey Jones waterfall is a favorite. I loved JD at the end where he is singing among the treasure. We were thrilled with the remake and hope they remake other dated attractions to be just as good.

I love the new version. It really has not changed that much, and what they did change is great. I really don't get people hating attractions and never wanting to ride them again just because they change a few things. Then again that leaves less wait time for those of us who love it.

Okay, I may be the last person in the world who doesn't know, but what were the "PC" changes that were made? I have read several references to them here and in guidebooks, but have no idea what was supposedly wrong with it.

We're among those that loved the updated POTC. In our opinion, the changes made enhanced the ride and added a fresh element to a Disney classic.

Okay, I admit I am obsessed with anything Pirates and was excited to ride PotC last year before the updates, and I was really let down. Now, I am looking forward to the refurbishments that I have heard about.

I can't remember exactly WHEN they were made - either late 80s or sometime in the 90s I'd say, but they changed the section where the women of the town now chase the pirates. Now, I may need someone to correct my history a little bit here, because obviously this was awhile back and I was still a kid:

Originally, the men chased the women. Then, when it changed, the women chased the men. It was ridiculous to say the least.

Yep - that's exactly what happened. I can't remember when either - I just remember as a kid noticing that they switched places between trips.

I wonder what everyone will think about the new "Rumors"! SUPPOSEDLY they are going to add Will and that nasty girl to the Pirates attraction! I really loved those movies but I'm sort of at a crossroads when it comes to the original and the new. I think they pretty much ruined the old attraction...there's hardly anything left! and if they bring in the others..there won't BE anything left. Yo Ho, Yo Ho! Helen

I would think those would be just rumors. It looks like if they were going to add them, they would have done it when the refurb was underway. Plus, while they are important to the story, they're not as iconic as Jack Sparrow.

The latest most tangible rumor is that they'll be renovating Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain next. Like they did at DL.
