new pirates boring

Sorry, but you'll be pretty lost, if you ask me.

In the new version you ride past some stormy seas and deserted burial scenes with skeletons and crabs (what's THAT about?)

Then, after your boat makes a small drop (in the DARK!), you'll see a big battle scene with a pirate ship outside the city (its too BIG!)

During much of the rest of the ride, you'll see various scenes where pirates auction-off damsels... and others sit and drink while the town "burns".

There's an impossible-to-understand scene where a dog holds a set of keys while "prisoners" whistle for him to bring the keys to them (does that dog ever MOVE?)

Lots of gold and jewels and other treasures are piled up near the end.

And then there's some song that the pirates sing, Ho-Yo-Ho-Ho.... So-So ,if you ask me.

Why did they make so many changes from the OLD way?

I don't get it. :confused3

In the description it doesn't sound like they changed ANYTHING! What exactly did they change/add? This ride is my DH's favorite and he will be soooo dissappointed if its changed too much. And the Song OMG if they just stuck the song in at the end thats gonna be horrible. The songs makes the experiance IMO.

I miss the talking skull and crossbones. They couldn't leave him in?

i totally disagree. i love the new soundtrack bc the movie music i think is just fab. the effect of davy jones in the beginning is great. i love the jack sparrow add ins as well. they stayed tru to walt's vision of the ride and i love it!

That sounds AWESOME :thumbsup2 to me! :) I can't wait until my September trip!!!

I was disappointed in the updates too. It just wasn't as fun, and my dh couldn't understand all the hype surrounding the ride (his first time riding it). I will say Jack Sparrow looked completely real. Like I wouldn't have been surprised if he had been a CM. LOL!

Me neither, it sounds too "trendy" now. What's next, a gift shop full of swords? I just hope they haven't included actual water under the boats.
That would totally ruin it.

YOU, I like!
;)

I'm going to give my list of what has changed, and it is very drastic:

3 Jack Sparrow AA's
1 Barbosa AA
1 Davy Jones fog screen waterfall effect
1 Pirates movie score in the boat battle scene

Why did Disney do this? They totally ruined the ride!!!

I hate when they do that.

Oh I hope it's not too disapppointing! I just recently rode the DL ride for the very first time and I gotta tell ya IMHO it's way better than the WDW version. The Jack Sparrow figure is so real, looks just like Johnny Depp!! I hope I like the new WDW ride. I'll be there in a couple of weeks to see for myself, but for me, ANY ride with Depp in it is wonderful!! I hope I see the Jack Sparrow character in WDW. He was at DL and walked right by me, but my hubby and kids were on a ride with all the cameras!! I would have loved to get a picture, the guy looked amazing!!

I was very skeptical about the changes being made, but I really love the ride the way it is now.

The Davey Jones addition is VERY cool. :cool1: Jack Sparrow is eerily realistic. pirate: I think the addition of the Pirates soundtrack music is fantastic. I love it.

If you want to see a clip of the "new" ride, send me a PM and I'd be happy to send you a link.

why do people prefer J. Depp to Blaine Gibson, Gore Verb. to Walt
The movie is supposed to be based on the attraction, and now the attraction is based on the movie

well, it may have flown over everyone else's head, but I get it, and I laughed.

Bingo! :)

OK I get the joke that I was so naive not to understand earlier. And I have to agree I don't like that they redid it to be after the movie. Like was said the movie was suppose to be after the ride.

They still have the song right?!Yo Ho?!Please have the song!
Yes, tell us! We're panicking here. I read someone say they heard "part of" the old song. I hope it's about a 99.99% if it's truly only "part". If I'm not sure, and you're in the MK 9/17, I'll be the crazy woman running frantically towards the POTC ride, with green Mickey Heads flapping, eyes glazed, and mumbling, "Gotta ride POTC and hear the song!" It better be the same.

There was wide-spread "panic" on these boards DURING the PotC re-hab.

Then, AFTER it RE-OPENED, there where scores of posts from guests who LOVED the re-hab, said they didn't make any severe changes, and were very satisfied with the overall attraction.

NOW, we get this new thread (or more) with all kinds of the same "Oh NO!, what did they do to our RIDE???" silliness.

Folks, as was mentioned above, there are PLENTY of "ride-thru" videotapes that have been posted. The ride is "still there".

I have 2 words for you.

RE.

LAX.
