New pirate makeover experience!

My 5 year old DD LOVES PIRATES, she has no idea that we are going to take her to the make-over on Friday Oct. 2nd before MNSSHP, can not wait to see her reaction.

OMG!! I had heard about something like this, but didn't know they did it for girls!! I have read through this whole thread and it has TOTALLY changed my idea of what I'm sure my girls will want LOL. They aren't 'super' girlie girls, and already have princess costumes, so I'm thinking for the BBB they can get everything BUT the costume and then for this I go buy the costumes and then get the Empress (sounds like the way to go anyways) I might even get mine done too LOL

Thank you all so much for your help and work!! Cast Members like those of you sharing your time and patience with all of us really make the whole thing that much more magical!!!

We have a booking for our three year old son on September 4th (we are going to MNSSHP). We are very much looking forwards to it: he loves pirates and one of his favorite things to do is dressing up as a pirate. pirate::lovestruc

The problem is: we are Danish so he does not understand a word of english (well, he can probable understand "pirate", since that is almost the same word in Danish, but that is probably it). I hope to be able to translate for him, but how will that work?

Do the CMs have experience with non-english-speakers? (I guess so).

How do they usually handle it?

Will we be able to go with him into the "secret chamber"?

I booked for september 21st at 11 am for my 6 and 3 year olds. my 3 year old doesn't like face paint and goes from wanting to do it to not. If we get there and he does not wnat to can we still go through with it so he can get everything except the facial effect? I know atht is mostly the point but I am worried to not book it for him and then get there and he will wnat to especially since his sister is doing it.

Woo Hoo, dumb luck strikes again!! I got my DD's and me and my DH to do the makeover all together at 625 right before we do the MNSSHP!!! yay!! my DD's have no idea, and they actually think they wanna try to find new costumes at the park LOL

Side question, so its better to get the wench at the store and pay for the empress makeover right?

How many days out can I make this reservation? 90 days or 180 days?

90 days (+10 if you're staying on site). Call 407-WDW-Crew

Before I was a CM, I was just like all of you - I enjoy helping out! Well informed Guests make my job easier and then your vacation can be more relaxed.

We have non-english speaking recruits all of the time. Even though we may not be able to story tell... we can still play and can communicate with our facial expressions. Having you there to translate is a bonus, but not required. He can most certainly visit the secret room!!!

If we get there and he does not wnat to can we still go through with it so he can get everything except the facial effect?

Yes - that is fine!! It happens more than you'd probably expect. If you get there and he does not want anything to do with it, you will be allowed to cancel and we will not charge the $10.

Side question, so its better to get the wench at the store and pay for the empress makeover right?

Depends. The Full Empress costume package comes with two extra pictures, but no bandana. However, if you do not want the extra pictures then you can just purchase the empress package and then ADD on the costume (make sure you are clear about that when you check in - ONE or THREE photos).

The costume costs the same whether you purchase in the store next door or add it on to the cost of the makeup. If you do the full empress package, with the extra photos, the Maiden cost is $110 total. I'm not sure what the Buccaneer total is. The costume itself I think is in the $55 mark.

If you are looking to save some money, you can find some less expensive costumes on-line. The two costumes we sell in the League are not available on-line, but there are things very similar.

I just wanted to share my experience with the new pirate makeover experience. Me, my DH, and 2 DS ages 6 and 8 were at MK on July 11th (my birthday) and were having a great time. :cool1:

We were all wearing matching outfits which tends to draw attention from CMs (and I also had on my BD button) and were standing in the gift shop just outside the Pirates of the Carribean ride pirate: when a CM walked up to me and asked if we had a party of 4. I told her we did, and she proceeded to explain to me that they were looking for a party of 4 to join the Pirate Training Academy I think is what she called it. She explained that it would be complimentary!!!:yay: Of course we agreed and proceeded to the place where we got to select our pirate look. It was a lot of fun and the kids had a blast even though we did not upgrade...all we had done was our face painted and they gave us a souvenier declaration at the end with our new pirate names. We drew lots of attention the rest of the day! It really was a lot of fun! The lady told us that they had just opened the week before. They were trying to advertise with live models. That was our Magical Moment of the day!pixiedust:

What a magical moment for you and your family.:goodvibes

I wish I could post some of our pictures but I am obviously not computer literate enough to do that. If anyone can help me with that, I would love to post them for you to see.

Just another plug for the CMs that day. Everyone was so nice and friendly and made me feel like I was a pirate (even though we were the "complimentary" group). It was an experience that I won't ever forget! It was a great and fun way to spend a birthday! Another reason I love Disney so much!

We were there on Wednesday, August 12. We had reservations for my DD14, my 6 yo nephew and 4 yo neice. The 4 yo opted out, but enjoyed watching the other two.

Pirate Dawn did my DD14 while Pirate Brenna made over my nephew. Both kids had a fabulous time. Brenna and Dawn were absolutely great. DD14 really went into this with a jaded eye. She was convinced she is too old for this foolery. Well, a few minutes into the experience changed her mind completely. Several times later in the week she said "thanks for making me do the pirate thing, it was great."

DD14 got the 6 (8?) eye Jack and nephew got the cursed pirate. The make up jobs were first rate. More than that, however, was the interaction with Brenna and Dawn who were terrific pirate characters (we're not sure they were acting, we believe they are pirates!).

The photos we received were gorgeous and everyone had a fun experience. Even my brother-in-law, who looks at a lot of this stuff as Disney looking for a new way to make a buck, said that it was well worth the cost and a very fun way to spend some time. He really got into the deciphering puzzle afterwards. That was funny to watch.

So, my great thanks to Brenna for all her help in advising us in advance and for working with my nephew. It was terrific to meet a fellow Dis'er. We'll be back in the future. If any one is having second thoughts about this, JUST DO IT!!!!! We had much more fun here than at the BBB.

Well, after a lot of questions on here, I finally managed to get my reservation for this!! :goodvibes I ended up getting my mother to take the phone and add her credit card to the reservation - but they accepted that with no problem!

I was a little concerned, seeing as I was on hold for about 19 minutes prior to getting a live voice; so I was afraid that there would be no way a free slot would be open. But there was! So my little 6 year old man will be becoming a big 6 year old pirate on September 25 at 9:15am!

I also wanted to say a HUGE thank you to Berlioz70 for patiently answering all of my - and everyone else's - questions in this thread. I don't know if you're still actually working for this particular attraction in the parks, but if you're there on September the 25th - we'll be the silly ones dancing around like fools! :)

We'll be there Sept 20 at 3pm before we are off onto the Pirates and Pals Cruise. I am sure my 12yo will at first think she is too old and cool, but I know she will love it. She and I are going to be pirates for Halloween this year. She doesn't even know about this trip let alone the makeover. She will be so surprised.

I have a timing question. How long does this take? I am thinking of getting DS9 the First Mate package (he has a full Jack costume already) and maybe doing the Emperess for myself.
Brenna, I hope we get you!!

Aye Pirate Brenna...

We're hoping ye are on the ship next Thurs 27 at the quarter past nine in the mornin', because me little scalliwag is gonna be on your crew and doesn't even know it! Arrrggghh. He goes by a cowboy name, but you can give him a new name... pirate:

YAY! The BBB is wonderful - but we are being marketed as the BBB for boys... hopefully people will figure out that we're completely different (and a lot more fun).

I'm glad your family had a great time - it's always fun to play with DISers!!!

I'm glad to help out! Unless something happens - I'm planning on being there on the 25th!!

My 16 yo brother thought he was "too cool" but by the end he was talking in some crazy Scottish accent - I still give him a hard time about where he got that voice.

I have a timing question. How long does this take?

It varies a lot - but we're saying 45-60 min... if you get in right away it'll be closer to 30-45.

YAY! My son will be thrilled :) It was actually the graphic in your signature that drew us in to the whole 'Pirate League' to begin with - Tyler saw it and FLIPPED out. I believe his exact words were "Good! Something that's not just for the yucky girls".

Every time I mention this to him, that's all he thinks about - your signature graphic. Though...we're still working on this whole 'internet' thing. So as of right now, he's convinced that you're part of a computer and keeps asking how come our computer isn't a pirate. Ahhh, the mind of a 6 year old!
