New pirate makeover experience!

Can someone post a link to the make-up options again? Or does someone know a certain post # that shows this?

Thanks ;)

Is there a number I can call for the Pirate's Bazaar or the League to order it? Or am I worrying for nothing, i.e. will there be plenty available on Oct. 18th?

Visit this link: http://allears.net/tp/mailorder.htm It has some great information on how to purchase items from the parks!

Are the costumes hot as heck in the summer? They all appear to be long sleeves?

Adding to this question -- is the make-up too hot for little ones? Are they just rubbing it off making a great big mess?

The make-up itself is not hot at all, and stays on pretty well. Things that will make it come off is rubbing it, sweating quite a bit (regular sweat is generally fine, but those who sweat a lot may have a problem with the cursed look), and of course direct contact with water (a light rain doesn't seen to be a problem - I'm talking about spraying squeeze breeze or swimming).

The costumes are mostly long sleeve, but as someone else mentioned they are great to wear for an hour and then can be doubled for Halloween! They can try on as many costumes as they like to find the one that they feel most comfortable in.

I booked for my son's birthday. The only time I could get was 10am. I am starting to re-think this. I am trying to decide if it is going to be worth it to miss precious MK touring time for this.

What tour are you planning on doing?

I called the number given at AllEars and they said they only have the Elizabeth Swann pirate outfit. I just e-mailed them so hopefully they will help me. Thanks for your help.

The dress has only been in the parks a month so they may not be very familiar with it. Make sure you let me know it's brand new. I've never used the mail order... so I'm not sure if they have full access to everything.

It's just theater makeup... it's not any hotter than ladies wearing their regular foundation etc.

Hi everyone!

We just got back from Disney and we did the pirate Experience. I am in the process of documenting and reviewing our experience but I took about 200 photos of the place and my DD :lmao:

The PL experience starts on page 13 of my trip report... its a lot of photos and I don't want to clutter up this thread with 2 pages of post from me with photos LOL

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=32965111&posted=1#post32965111

I will be adding tons more than whats already on there as I upload them!

Those PL pictures in the other thread are AMAZING. I have to admit I got so sucked into the "experience" with my three girls I didn't take half as many as I should have!

(Parent Hint for the Experience Bottom of second post!!!)

Our Report:

Lizzie (10) was so excited to meet "Pirate Brenna." You see, I'd been saying for a few weeks that I knew a REAL pirate. At 10, Lizzie is old enough to see through that, but young enough for part of her to WANT to believe I did. She quizzed me for weeks: What does she look like? How did I know her? Brenna and I even came up with a cover story together about how we'd met because I was doing a portrait of her for Brenna's jig dancing career.

Lizzie was so excited she made up a thank you card for Brenna ahead of time and covered it in Pirate stickers. I snuck in the small portrait I really had done of Brenna (using a Pirate League promo photo, so I was hoping it was even close to how she really looked!) and we slipped that in the card.

We had another XL pirate shirt made (which I knew would be huge on Brenna but how often would she probably wear it in public? I figured maybe she could relax around the house in it or use it as a sleepshirt or something) that matched our families outfits that day, so we put that in the thank you bag as well.

I know this probably seems odd to some to bring a gift bag to a CM but Brenna has been spending MONTHS here answering every single Pirate League question (usually multiple times), researching answers if she doesn't have them, planning with me on the cover story, etc, so if ANYONE deserved a special thank you above and beyond a tip, it's Brenna! (Yes don't worry, we tipped our PL masters, too! They REALLY earned it!)

Lizzie being a bit shy giving Brenna the card and gift:

You can't tell in this picture but she was SO happy that Brenna liked the shirt enough to put it on immediately! Here is the announcement that Lizzie was about to join the League!

Hannah (8) wasted no time at all making friends. She sat down with a nice pirate named Dave and he not only signed her autograph book but took it along to all the other pirates to sign. I have to say, they really did include her in everything. They offered her a makeover, but as she was going to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in a few hours, we had to say no thank you this time.

201.JPG

You can see how much Hannah was enjoying her talk with Dave. All the Pirates stay in character while you are at the League, telling stories and jokes to the participants and each other, sometimes breaking into song and dance around you, and just making it an all-around fun time.

202.JPG

Emilee (12) was going to be inducted into the League by Pirate David. I think she had a bit of a crush on him by the time we were leaving. I have to admit, the guy was hilarious.

Lizzie picking out what make-up she would like. I was not allowed to look, as she said it was a surprise for me.

You can tell Em's a touch smitten, this guy was cute AND funny:

Hannah is right in the middle of the action:

They even brought her over her own "seat" so she wouldn't miss out on anything.

Something supersecret with Pirate David:

212.JPG

At this point one of the girls shared that we had a Golden Retriever named Dave. David was telling them all in the League that we had "a dog made of gold, wait no that's not right!", we "had a dog that brought us gold!" The pirates loved that story and had to share it a few times and laugh (making the kids roar in laughter too) Then Brenna mentioned how the dog had the same name as the Pirate David, and it be fittin to name a dog Dave (wink wink to the grown ups) and all the Lady pirates agreed to that one. Either they are very very good actors and great spirited, or I'm thinking Dave has a reputation among the lady pirates! (I'll make it clear nothing crossed any lines, nothing inappropriate was said, it was just also a funny moment for mom and dad too to hear this amongst the banter).

Everyone kept coming over to see Brenna's portrait. Brenna had to give Lizzie a lesson in pirating ways- claim credit, even if it not be yer doin! Lizzie never did get quite comfortable with that idea. But you can see she was smiling and having fun! (And it made Lizzie feel SO special that Brenna liked the things that she'd brought for her. Thank you again, Pirate Brenna, for making her feel so special!)

216.JPG

Hannah snares another one! This pirate (Lauryn, I think?) came over to tell more stories about items around the League.

(to be continued...)

(continued)

This wasn't a scripted experience (how many times does the guy on the jungle cruise, etc, have to say the same thing per shift, I wonder?), if you can't tell by now. They really do listen and interact with every kid that enters the League (Okay I'm sure they don't have a second for EVERY kid who wanders by when it's busy, but during our time I saw NO ONE in the League who wasn't included in some way). Yes, some parts are the same each time, or with certain Pirates, but you can tell they are truly involved with the little ones who visit and in making their experience unique and special.

Emmy is really starting to transform!

221.JPG

Oops, about this time we realized everyone had signed Lizzie's book, not Hannah's- and darned if they didn't take a second book around for everyone to sign again!

The finished product!

I love this next picture. You can just see the joy all over Lizzie's face. She's LOVING this! We'd had a bad few days (nothing Disney's fault) so I'd been waiting for two days to see that look on her face!

237.JPG

And then, a Pirate jig happened, and I think you could have picked my jaw up off the floor when my self-conscious pre-teen went right out there and jigged with them all!

emjig.jpg

After this, I can't be tellin' yer what be happenin', exactly, as we went off to da secret room for a few minutes ta do a few secret things! Yer gotta be goin' ta da League ta be knowin'!

My surprise: My tomboy got the girly makeover!

(Hints for parents; only the "Empress" (girly) makeover allows you to take home nailpolish and a small makeup kit. On my girls, we brought Emmy's costume but Lizzie is wearing the "buckaneer girl" costume available at the league. Also, if you have little ones too small for the Pirate League makeover- you must be at least 3- but old enough you're afraid they might feel left out, secretly buy or bring a piece of "pirate treasure" for them like an eyepatch or a necklace or something, and quietly give it to a Pirate CM explaining you'd like your small child to be included in somewhat in the experience along with your Makeover Pirate. The CM will know what to do with it, and no one's feelings will be hurt.)

I have to admit, we'd so been looking forward to this I was afraid we'd set ourselves up for disappointment. They not only met but exceeded our expectations, and we found the League visit to be one of THE highlights of our trip! I recommend it whole-heartedly. This isn't just a make-over, so calling it "BBB for Boys" isn't really true- it's an EXPERIENCE!

Thanks so much for your report and all of the pictures! We're really excited to experience this with our three boys in October! :cool1:

emcreative (or anyone else who has the answer),
I was hoping you could help me with sizing information. My niece 11 going on 12 will be doing the PL in September. She is tall and skinny. She wears a size 18 at Limited too/Justice. I am thinking that she will be too big for the costumes available at the PL, so I was going to order one prior. She wants the Elizabeth Swann costume like the one they have in the store, but the only sizes I see available at any place I find on the internet is Adult medium. I was wondering if you could help with the sizing of the costumes you purchased. Did they seem big, small, true to size. Also, you can PM me with any reccomendation on a good place to get the costume. Thanks!

YEAH to "emcreative" for the awesome story and all you did for Pirate Brenna! :thumbsup2 I agree, she's been awesome to come on here since the beginning and answer lots of questions. We're very much looking forward to this during our trip and meeting Pirate Brenna! :worship:

If you check the measurements at the Disneyshopping.com site, I find those more helpful than the "numbered" size:

I'm so glad I found this post!! I'm thinking this would be a fun Christmas present for the kids! (I'll wrap up some costumes with a certificate for the make over). pirate:pirate:

Ahh, Pirate Dave. Rumor has it that back in the day, he could commandeer just about any type of vessel ... even a safari vessel in Africa once or twice.

Come to think of it, I've heard the same tale about a certain Plaid Pirate that's been around these waters.

We'll, them pirates do have to be crafty to make their way in the world, lol!
