New Pirate Game Issues

I have a big problem with this.

To me this is the same as Disney promoting GAMBLING. You have to pay to play, you can only play against others because playing against computer opponents doesn't gain you any points. The best you can hope for when playing the AI opponent is to lose only 7 credits (you start with 7 points and if you don't get hit and sink all the opponets you keep your 7 point - if you win 2 rounds at 7 points each you have 14 and then the game is over because you won, but since their was no player opponent you don't win the 100 points for a win).

I say it is like gambling because the game is only partly based on YOUR skill. You need to have:

• good partners
• be better than your opponent
• not get stuck in a rock outcrop - really maddening
• be able to see your ship - this is a bug and "will be fixed" but for now...
• not get disconnected
• not have all members of the other team get disconnected
• have the ship fire and move when you tell it to - way too many time lags

In the last game you could base your skill in the game against AI opponents and everyone was on a level playing field. As you got better you could go to real players if you wanted to.

or in my words

Putting money (credits) up front for the chance of getting more money (credits) based on either chance or chance and skill.

I really like the new graphics and the capture the flag level. I really miss the ability to join your friends on one side against the AI pirates and have some fun. Now you have to play against your friends or against others, either way someone loses, and pays for the privelage of losing.

I would ask that they keep the new version and the old version as an option, or as a level without the fee.

They could also drop the fee and add the ability to play AI pirates, get points for shooting them but not get the 100 for the match win.

I think when you rant you need to give good options to solve the problem too.

Well, here's some of the technical problems that I ran into:

Couldn't see the ships, ammo, or health

Everything would freeze up and then action would happen 5 or so seconds after it should have

Trying to get 2 on each side for Capture the Flag is not very easy

When I would finish a game or even before one started, the little word bubbles that hold what we type would turn solid white, red, or blue, and I couldn't see what anyone was saying to me

As others mentioned, after I got 10 wins on the first level, the game stopped sending me messages about "Win X more times on Level 2 to get to Level 3." Right now I have no clue if it's counting my Level 2 wins or not.

On the more general side of things:
I do NOT like paying to play, no matter how good the pay out is if you do well or even decently. Gambling is an entire issue I could get into, but I don't have the energy. But I will say I'm seeing a pattern in VMK that I'm not liking. Much like the Sparrow costume is basically promoting a slots type addiction, this is another variation of gambling. Related-- I really hate it for players who already struggle with credits. Now many of them probably won't even play, or at least not play often.

Also on the technical side, I hate the whole "Teams must be even and you can't play AI in Capture the Flag, and if you play it in Battle you get a low pay out." Don't like it at all. Can you imagine the nightmare that will be when that's included in quests?

So... it's a nice change to have a different game, sure. But personally, give me back the old game. Liked it a lot; this is just a pain on too many levels, in my view.

As others mentioned, after I got 10 wins on the first level, the game stopped sending me messages about "Win X more times on Level 2 to get to Level 3." Right now I have no clue if it's counting my Level 2 wins or not.

After observing today, I'm pretty sure it's counting them, just not giving any countdown messages. I played level 2 all day today not knowing how many games I had to go, and never got a message telling me I could start on level 3! LOL, after a while I started to realize that surely I had won 10 level 2 games by now! So I just tried a level 3 and it worked! Heh, you might want to keep track yourself with a pen and paper.

And what's up with no reward for winning 10 level 3 games?! Some new magic would be nice.

I agree. My computer used to be fast enough for the pirates game but now I keep getting kicked into the lobby, I'm wasting 21 credits each try >_< I've already lost over 300 credits. This new game idea is just brainless, >_> who came up with it.
