I believe it is officially classified as a "Downtown Disney" area resort, but Epcot would be the closest theme park. SSR is being constructed on the old site of the Disney Institute, just down the road from Old Key West and across the water from DD.

Looks lovely. I hope we'll be able to get in and stay there next year. I wonder if being able to see the high rise type Downtown Disney hotels in the near distance will throw off the feeling of the theming? (In one of the pics you can see one of the htoels.)

If you look at the property map http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/propertymap.JPG (click in the lower right corner on the picture "viewer" icon to blow up the map) you can see the notation for the Disney Institute...that's the location of SSR. No, you cannot walk to Epcot. You can easily walk to DTD, though.
