NEW Photopass perk

I just got back from a week in Disney so if this has been posted already I apologize.

If you pre-paid for a photopass CD or if you purchase one in the parks you are now entitled to a private 30 minute photo shoot with a photographer at the Grand Flordian hotel.

How it works is you call the hotel and ask for an appointment for the photopass photo shoot. You show up and you are walked around the hotel inside and out and have your photo taken in various poses. My wife and I had 60 photos taken and they range from us sitting on the beach to standing around a tree giving each other a kiss.

I was told this new perk has been going on for around 6 weeks and they are going to be charging $25 for this soon.

Has anyone else done this yet? It absolutely made our photopass CD worth buying.

The session includes around 40 photos taken around the picturesque resort and its beach. Pricing is either $49.95 for a PhotoPass card containing your photos which can then be added to your disneyphotopass.com account or $124.95 which will get you a PhotoCD with your images. If you choose to get the PhotoCD, you can save your receipt and CD and exchange it later on during your vacation for a new PhotoCD containing all of your PhotoPass images. The only catch is you won't be able to make enhancements to any of the photos. The only way to be able to make enhancements without purchasing another PhotoCD product is to buy the $49.95 package and then add it to your PhotoPass account online. Call 407-824-1700 to make reservations up to 30 days in advance or for additional information.

Can anyone clear the above up for me?

Does this mean:
I go to grand floridan do photo shoot and pay $124.95 only if i want the Photopass cd also, then at the end of my holiday when i want to get the cd i just show them the receipt? So i don't have to pay
49.99 on top?

Also how are you aware of these deals?

if you pre-order at home, it's $100 for photoCD instead of $125. bringing the email to confirm you pre-ordered is what causes them to waive the sitting fee until november.

they let you pre-order in the parks, but it's $125 but they offer 3 5x7 prints to compensate

if you pay them $125 for the GF thing, they'll sell you the photoCD with a free session, but you won't be able to enhance the images with borders. the only way to do that is online which means pre-ordering it. you can of course pay $50 for the sitting fee and use that photocard to later order the cd online for $125, but it wouldn't be cost effective.

If I do the pre purchase offer now I get the GF photo shoot free right? Okay then my next question is how long is the pre purchase good for? I am going in Oct of 2008 and if I purchase the CD now will the code still be good then and with the GF? I might consider this for next year.

the GF and pre-order are two separate things. there is nothing promised about GF when you pre-order the CD. the GF will start charging as of november regardless.

Thanks bradk for always providing great information. I'm sorry if my brain is working slow today, but I need your help to clarify for me how this will work. I will be at WDW the first week of October. I am going to prepurchase the photo cd. So, I should call and set an appt for GF photo shoot, take my receipt and the fee is waived, then what? Do they give me a card to add to my photopass acct or do they give me a cd? Thanks for the help.

I pre-ordered the CD and in order to get the photo shoot I had to show them a confirmation from my email account. It was a pain because I didn't take one so I had to go to the business center of my hotel and print one off.

The only reason I knew about this photopass perk was because of a wonderful cast member my wife and I met at Chief Mickeys. Her name was Shannon and she was in charge of bringing around the photos for purchase at the end of our meal.

We got to talking about photopass and how it really was not for us since the parks did not have alot of photopass photographers (that's a whole other topic). She then suggested we do the photoshoot to get our money's worth. She gave us a phone number and the next day we got it done.

The absolute best reason to purchase photopass for us was this perk.

When I read your site a week or so ago there was no mention of the photoshoot on there. You must have just added it right after/before I left for my trip.
