New penguin ride at SW

Mostly dissapointed,it's not worth doing a long wait for it.It's too short a ride,it has a mild and a wild option but we rode the wild and it felt pretty mild to me.It used to be that you could just walk in the old penguin building and see the penguins,now you have to do a long wait to do the ride to get to the penguins.I heard people talking about how there should be a way to bypass the ride to just see the penguins,there might already be a way but I've yet to experience it.Overall it's not a bad addition as long as the lines eventually get to be 10-15 minute waits most of the time,if this is going to be a ride that just doesn't have good capacity and waits of 45-60 minutes are common then I can't say it's a good addition since it's such a short ride.I do like going into the 30 degree weather when it's 90 outside.

We did it on our August trip and were very glad we did, even though the wait was 30 minutes or so. My son loves penguins and it's the only way you can see them at SW now.

I thought the "wild" version of the ride was pretty mild as well. Plus, the ride is VERY short - I'd say no more than a minute or two? I didn't time it, but both DH and I thought it was shorter than any other ride.

The penguins at the end are awesome, but the ride itself is very very lame. I'm not too picky, but you have to wonder, what were they thinking, is this the best they could do??? Also the ride has broken down both times I have been on it. If my autistic son didnt love it so much wouldnt do again. And he only likes it cause you get to wait by the numbers one two or three before you go on the ride. Long story but yeah thats the thrill of it for him!!!

actually the ride last more than 3 minutes and there are a number of rides which are shorter including the peter pan ride.I disagree with what everyone has said so far.the ride is AMAZING.one of the things I like most about the ride is there are 32 different scenarios that can happen during your ride.just because other people don't like it DOES NOT mean you won't like it.You should most differently give it a try otherwise you will never know. not everyone has the same opinion on everything.For example A LOT of people like universal but I can't stand universal and WILL NEVER go back. Also the ride is mainly just there to get you from point A to point b also in every room in the queue and the ride the temperature goes down 5 - 10 degrees.the attraction is meant to be about the full experience not just the ride.The penguin area is amazing and is worth a long wait.

Its nice to see someone likes it. All anyone says is its lame. I agree try it out for yourself. Everyone has their own opinions. We will definitely be going numerous times when we go. Its the only thing my son has been asking to see since construction started.

We did and thought it was cute. We also did the wild version, and didn't find it particularly wild, though, in fact even my autistic ride chicken found it pretty mild, and she still thinks Wild Arctic is "too rough". That said, the penguin exhibit itself is excellent, the ride and line are somewhat interactive and cute. I am sure we will do again, but likely would not wait in line longer than 15 minutes or so for it ever again.

What's the difference between "mild" and "wild"? My son loves penguins but he's not a big ride person. He's 11 and I just got him to ride the "scrambler" this year.

Mild basically slides along the "ice", wild is maybe as "wild" as say the Pooh ride at Disney, a little bouncing along, etc

DS, a high school senior, did it at SeaWorld camp this summer and thinks it's great. We're going to SeaWorld this coming Saturday and he prepared a plan for our day and has us doing this one first thing in the morning because there is not quick queue option for this and going first thing the line should be short(We have a limited quick queue pass as we are staying at a partner hotel, but it's not available for all attractions).

When we were there a few weeks ago we were talking to one of the workers that worked inside with the penguins and he was telling us this is the first time they had "this type" of penguins and they have to keep these penguins at a colder temp then the other ones.

So the ride isn't really a "ride" what they are trying to do is drop your body temp. Because it is "100" degrees outside each room you "ride" into drops your body temp so that you won't go from 100 degrees to like 32 degrees.

How true is that i am not sure, but since we worked with the penguins i could see it.

Last time we went to Sea World which was last year this was still being built which I was a bit disappointed at as I love penguins.

The ride part of the attraction is very very lame. The building exterior is really nice and there are some great photo ops.
We did the mild ride because we didn't know what to expect. You sit in a big round vehicle that glides along the floor. You glide around a room (or two--I can't remember). There's not much to look at in these rooms. If I remember correctly there is a video screen and some stuff hanging from the ceiling.

The best part of the ride is where you exit the vehicle. That's where the penguins are. We spent quite a bit of time watching them and taking photos. It was awesome. But unfortunately the only way you can see them now.

There was a wild ride car behind us and all it did was bob up and down a bit to simulate being on water (I assume this is what the intended feeling was supposed to be). It also spun around a bit more. It wasn't wild. Perhaps mildly nauseating if you don't like to spin or get sea sick easily.

Firstly, we did the mild version as my DS isn't a big ride fan (he's an autistic 6 yr old) and he enjoyed it until the shark at the end when he REALLY freaked out. Thought it was a great ride for kiddies esp when you get to see the penguins at the end. I regretted having my sandals on that day! lol! My son could've stayed standing there in shorts and t-shirt for AGES if I let him. You CAN just see the penguins without doing the ride though. You just walk through the gift shop and down some steps to the viewing area. We did a similar thing at Epcot. We'd been on Finding Nemo ride at start of the day and my son wanted to see the fishes again after lunch so we walked through the gift shop and just walked straight into the aquarium bit. There were loads of security guys around but no-one stopped us.
