New park tix - $3 a day!? My head is going to explode

I'm always looking for the most cost effective way to do things and analyzing things till I go crazy. So now I see the Magic Your Way ticket prices!? What am I missing? After 3 - 4 days, you 'might as well' buy a 5, 6 or 7 day ticket??? Yes, if you aren't going to use the days in this trip, you'll have to buy the no expiration option (for what - 55 for the 7 day?)? Park hopping is a flat cost no mater how many days you are going for...

But at that progression, I'd love to buy a 20 day with no expiration? The incremental cost for that 20th day would cost what, 5c? ( I can dream!?). And sure, you'll spend loads more on food, etc.. but am I missing something?

Also, compared to previous park tickets, has the price really gone up? Seems by having them expire within a couple weeks, that helps keep the cost down? But then you fall into the 'trap' of buying the extra days because they are so cheap, but then needing to buy the no expire for the whole package. Anyone see a logical analysis of my frustration with this?!

THANKS!

I am feeling the same thing.

With our trip this year, I can only go for four days - 3 days in the parks. It is going to cost 218.00 pp for a 3 day pass ..... or only 283.00 for a 7 day pass with no expiration.

I am making the investment.. and putting that baby in the safe deposit box when I return home... my passes will be paid for the next trip!

I'm doing the same - buying a 10 day pass and using it over two trips.

Exactly why I'm buying a 6 day ticket. We're going to the parks on the 24th because for a few dollars, I can get access to them instead of waiting a whole nother day. This will increase my ridetime. I love DTD and such but that's after a park! haha..

I am buying the 10 day but then again I am going to be there for 10 days :rotfl2:

We are going for 15 days but only 12 in the parks (one day arriving, one day leaving and one day visiting) I think we are going for AP's as they seem the best bet......am I right. I keep second guessing myself that there is something better I am missing......HELP

It used to be, more than 7 parks days in a year and the AP was worth it. With the new MYW tickets, I'm not sure. They make my head spin

I know its nuts. I read it and thought...ok. Then I re-read it with all the options and then I thought......hmmm alittle confusing. Then I started to read about dining options, dining cards and now I am so lost. As I said above, I feel like there is a great option that I am just missing seeing. I am hesitating buying my passes because I am sure sure that I will buy them and find a much better deal. This is crazy I should just get the AP and be done with it.....right......I need some of you people who I trust to give me some encouragement..hee hee. Is there something I am missing. Is there a stay all you want, hop all you want never expires for a great price ticket??? If not someone should tell them that is what we need! ::yes:: When I see that ticket I will know that I bought the right one.

We dont do the water parks as DS is in a wheelchair and the one time we went it wasnt really too much fun for him. He would rather use the pool at the hotel so we dont go to the water parks anymore. So at least that makes things a little less confusing!!!

Without doing too much math, for 12 days I'd say definitely go for the AP's. Even though it's a little bit more money than 12 days, you will be able to get AP rates and other discounts (Not sure exactly what they are but I know there are some on dining and merchandise at DTD).

AND, the biggest bonus of that? If you go, say the first two weeks in June with your new APs, you can come back the last two weeks in May, 2006 and still use the same passes :cool1: You can't pass up that!

What are your dates, if you don't mind me asking?

We will be arriving July 1-14. DH and I are both teachers so we can only visit on school vacations and they tend to be crowded. We like to stay for at least 10 days (doesnt everyone) but we do this for DS so we can go slow and not have to rush. I think if we get AP (DH has one already so we could use it for hotel discount) we probably will not be using it next year. I hate to only pay for the 10 days and then decide we need more park time but then the AP is so much more....darn it almost seems like after 10 days they don't want you any more....We never know how DS is going to be.....last trip he got sick and I had to stay at the hotel with him the whole 7 days...we used our passes(AP's) once or twice. That killed me...such a HUGE waste of money....oh well, DS got better and that is a blessing no ammount of money can buy. The AP's have since expired all except DH's who renewed his for the discounts. Oh well, I will let DH decide, I am pretty sure it is AP's for the rest of us as well. Thanks for the info.

We were going to go for 3 days (since we were just there in July), then it became 4, then 5, now were are going for 6 days. You just can't beat the price of an additional day. :)

Don't forget the AP gets you free parking. That adds up for a 12 day period.

What's the stopy with 8, 9 and 10 day MYW tix that the discounters are selling? Disney doesn't... are they legit? And why does the 8 day cost per day spike up!? The 10 day isn't much less per day than the 7 day ; ( I was hoping to pay much less for that 10th day! : )

It's still AMAZING how my earlier notion that WDW was expensive (at least the park admission) has dramatically changed!? where the oolder PH as good a deal?

I bought a bunch of all in one hoppers back right when AK opened. I was working at Met Life, who was sponsoring the Life pavillion. we got a discount on tix purchases... At the time they said we have 5 day tix that we can sell you at some big doscount (40% off?) and then AK opened when we were there and they got rid of the 5 day and substituted it for a 6 day at the same price. we maxed out our mac card withdrawls to buy more tix while there. I think in the end we bought something like 60 days worth of passes at something like $25 / day. we are just finishing up using all of them and now this comes along. The MYW with the options that get used seperate from park admission vs. all in one where you could do all the theme parks, water parks and PI all on the same day and only use 1 day on the card make it harder to compare apples to apples... but this seems amazing!

You could always get the 10 day MYW pass and later decide to upgrade to the AP if you need to. Your husband already has the AP for the room discount and DDE card. Since you don't do water parks you wont need the premium annual pass. The regular annual pass is about $420. The only problem with the MYW pass is that you wanted to spend 12 days in the parks and it only goes up to 10.

I thought that if you stayed anywhere on sight (regardless of AP) you got free parking. I maybe wrong as I am not sure of all the new rules. But I am pretty sure of this...anyone???
If I do do the 10 day and then decide to upgrade to an AP can I do that right at my hotel? Do I have to go to a park to do that? Thanks, that maybe the way to go..........oh no another decision..hee hee.

The cheaper the longer you stay does get you doesn't it? We are planning to only visit four days at the parks during our next trip in June but I was not willing to just buy four days with Park Hoppers when the days get so cheap the longer the ticket. That lead us to decide to get the non expire option, seven day, and when I bought our tickets last night on Ticketmania I ended up getting the 10 day nonexpire park hopper. That along with the two days we had left on our four day hopper means that we now have 11 days, with only a four day at the park trip planned. Talk about getting your guarantee trip return.
