New Pal Mickey

Does anyone know if the new Pal Mickey is out. I had read that they were coming out with a new Mickey wearing a tux and full of new information. We are going on May 6th and would love to have this for the plane ride down to Flordia. When is the new one exs pected to be released?

ACK! I hadn't heard this. We already have two Pal Mickeys but if a new one is coming out I just may have to splurge for him.

Does anyone know if the same information from the new one will be "downloaded" into the current ones as we pass the turnstyles?

He will be out when you go as he is the special 50th Anniversary Edition and since that starts on the 5th. Pal Mickey should be there on the 6th!!!

I read on another board where someone who works at a disney store in downtown disney(I think, but it may have been one in the parks), he stated they got them in already, but they came with papers saying not to sell until april 20th. so hopefully he will be available then since I am going down the 22nd-30th. otherwise I will have to wait till I go back again in October.

I do remember reading on a post, that someone had seen one (for sale) in the MK, about a week ago.
Maybe it was a mistake, and whomever put it out, was not yet supposed to do that.

I just looked up the new Pal Mickey. This is from www.intercot.com:

NEW! A special Happiest Celebration on Earth edition of the popular talking Mickey Mouse toy will debut to coincide with the May 2005 launch of the 18-month festivities taking place worldwide to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Disneyland.

Nattily dressed in a removable tuxedo jacket, the 10 1/2-inch huggable plush doll has been updated with fun facts about new attractions, shows, character greetings and short wait times across Walt Disney World Resort. Plus, he includes more than 30 trivia questions, seven sing-a-longs and six games, as well as a brand-new carrying lanyard and a louder speaking voice.

The new version of Pal Mickey is available for $65 plus tax and can be found at select sites in Disney's four Florida theme parks and merchandise locations in each of the Walt Disney World resort hotels.

Can you only get the new PM at the parks? We have one from when they 1st came out and love it! Of course, we'll have to get a new one, too, but I can't wait 'til our May trip - I WANT IT NOW!

Just went to check it out. Very cute!! Wonder if anyone will bite for $100? A bit crazy if you ask me. I'm sure they'll have plenty. No way WDW is going to miss out on patrons paying $65 a pop, hence, no chance they'll run out!

But I'm sitting here thinking...."oh no. My 2.5yr old is going to want one of these!!!" She loves Mickey! And I just don't know how durable they are...or it it's really worth it. $65??!!! ouch.

I'd say they are fairly durable. We got one when they first came out. It's made one return trip to WDW, and in general, "been around." As long as a little child doesn't bang it against the wall or see if it can swim, it should hold up well.
