I expect to pass ROFR in the next two weeks. As it so happens, I already have my big trip for this year scheduled with cash, so I don't need to use my points to book anything. I will probably bank.

I was interested in what you all did, other than book a trip, when you first became a member. The first thing I might do is get my AP's, or at least get them before prices go up in August.

Any other/better suggestions or tips for a brand-new owner?

Thanks.

I stalked these boards, checked the points chart over and over again for all the resorts and finally figured out I have to many vacations/resorts to go on and not enough time off from work!:rotfl2:

Banked points = longer vacations or larger accommodations! We have a list going of friends we would love to bring to WDW and so happy we can!

Enjoy and read the DIS boards many people have great ideas!

We actually did not take a trip the year we bought DVC and banked the points instead. The following year we brought people with us and were able to stay in a two bedroom and still had points to bank. Following year did the same thing, and by the year after that we were borrowing points. We now live in a perpetual state of borrowment. :rotfl: It was soooo nice the first couple of trips to have points that weren't borrowed. If only DH would concede to more points, I'd get out of this state! :lmao:

We bought last August so we bank our bonus points for joining on DCL and then I booked for this Easter and this August. The August trip I had to wait for the 7 month mark and had no problem booking AKL.

I learned so much from these boards. Good luck!!:thumbsup2

To answer your question, make a RESSIE! Nothing is more frustrating than to take the plunge and buy, only to call to make your plans for your first trip home and to have to hear that no rooms are available. Yes, it does happen often.

We bought and then 1 month later found out we were pregnant! Was she a Disney bonus? :)

We didn't get to go that first year, but are FINALLY going home next month for our first official trip! I stalked the board and planned planned and planned away until I felt I couldn't plan anymore. Hope you get to go very soon! congrats!

You can never plan to much.:surfweb: Because when you get there all things change. :confused3 So PLAN PLAN PLAN,: and have a good time.:thumbsup2

First, jump up and down for joy! :yay:

Next, go to the store and buy a new wallet. You'll want the one with a vacuum attachment, since the Mouse is going to suck every penny you have out of it, anyway.

Otherwise, Welcome Home! :woohoo:
