New owner needs help with renting points

We recently purchased a resale of SSR and have 55 points from the 2006 use year that we aren't going to be able to use before the use year is up (Feb.). We are hoping to rent them but we don't know anything about renting points. Could somebody give me some input/advice on how the renting point process works and some do's and dont's. Thanks!

Shouldn't these be bankable points? I would bank them. If not read all the stickies on the Rent/Trade board. Also read the many post to see how the renters market their points. Good Luck and Welcome to the Dis and home.....

I'd bank them and add them to next year's vacation. Call DVC and see if they can still be banked 100% because of your recent purchase.

Thanks. It looks like a lot of good info. And I will have to check on the banking. We are not used to planning our vacations so far in advance, so I guess it is something we will have to get used to!

You sure will! With DVC I typically have my next two Disney trips planned at all times - I begin to plan for the third one before the first one is finished!

I'm a bit worried. We only have through the end of June 07 reserved and planned at this point. We thought we might do the marathon in Jan 08, but we don't want our son to miss too much school and it is a bit later in January. What to do, what to do.
