Hey all. Sorry to bore you all. I'm sure you get this all the time, but on our recent visit to POR during Jersey week, me & the misses finally did what we had been putting off for 4 years now. We bought into SSR, for 99 a point. Now comes the hard part of trying to make things work. LoL Trying to book a 1st time vaca. in the late Aug. timeframe. Any Suggestions good or bad would be greatly appreciated. Thanks DizDad!

First off....WELCOME HOME!!! :cool1::banana::yay:

Trying to book a 1st time vaca. in the late Aug. timeframe. Any Suggestions good or bad would be greatly appreciated.

What kind of suggestions are you looking for? If you're asking where you should stay, I think you have a good shot at most resorts for a late August reservation at 7 months.

You probably should book SSR now with the home resort advantage just to be sure you have something for that period prior to trying for somewhere else.

But if you want my opinion about where to stay for your first DVC visit, I would definitely recommend SSR. You've bought many decades of DVC ownership with SSR as your home resort, and I think you might want to "bond" with that resort since you may be staying there many times over the course of your ownership.

It's a very nice resort with easy access to Downtown Disney's stores and restaurants. :thumbsup2

Congratulations and welcome home. I agree with Granny SSR is a great resort I don't own there (AKV & OKW) but I've stayed there several times and really enjoyed the resort. Will definitely rotate back there.

Welcome home, SSR neighbor!

My suggestion is to pick a favorite by gut feeling of the on site resorts and try for that, because at exactly 7 months you should be able to get it in late August. I own at SSR, and others, and for August, because of an excellent chance of swimming weather, I would try first to get BCV, then AKV, or VWL. Those would be MY choices.

Bobbi:goodvibes.

PS. If your gut feeling is SSR, that's really great!

I agree with Bobbi, try for BCV for late August--we were there this year from 8/23-8/29, and while it was not brutally hot as it had been a few weeks earlier it was still quite hot and we spent a lot of our time in the pool.

We found it to be a fun time to go. The crowds were low, the weather was not unbearable (especially since we had a really hot stretch in NJ from end of July through mid-August, not much different than the weather in Orlando when we went).

Congrats and good luck.

Congratulations! We just bought too and are going on our first trip in January, so I don't have any advice yet. Welcome home!

My suggestion is ....ENJOY! Welcome home and hope you have many years of great vacations.

Thanks all for all your kind words, and incite. I just booked from 8-23 to 9-2 @ ssr with the hopes of possibly switching to either bcv or bwv. Mainly for the location but would love to here what other benefits these 2 have over any other. Thanx.

The main benefits of BWV or BCV are the proximity to two parks, easy access to the Boardwalk area and for BCV the main pool is the favorite of many. You can't access the Yacht & Beach Club main pool unless you are staying at YC, BC or BCV.

BWV also has the benefit of Standard View villas which are a great bargain points-wise as long as balcony view is not critical to you. If view is critical, the Boardwalk View at BWV is a great one. BCV is limited on "great views".

I think for the time you are booking you have a good shot at either BWV or BCV at the 7 month mark. Good luck!

Welcome Home....I love my DVC:cool1:

I love it because of flexibility.

Look where you are dying to stay in August. Each resort has it pluses and minuses....time of year should be taken into account. You should get whatever you want at that time of year at 7 months out.
Happy planning that is half the fun:yay:

Congrats DizDad and WELCOME HOME:thumbsup2 We're gonna be SSR neighbors!:) If you're planning to stay up late and make a lot noise...please ask us over;) Seriously, you will love DVC.:earsboy:

Welcome home from another SSR owner. Will be going on our first DVC trip in 6 more days!!! Staying at BWV as this is an adult trip with my daughter to celebrate her college graduation.:thumbsup2

I like the idea of either BCV or BWV in August because of their proximity to the two parks. You can head to the parks early a.m. and then as the temperature rises during the August day, you can head back to the resort for some shade and a dip or an afternoon nap. Then as the evening approaches bringing cooler temps. you will be refreshed for your return to the parks.
Congratulations!
Stephen
