New Orleans Vacation Suggestions

Yeah, but Fat City has gotten a wee bit rough nowadays; I don't think I'd send a tourist out there. (Mind you, you don't want to take a wrong turn on the trip to Mosca, either -- except that out there you almost need to be more worried about gators than muggers, LOL)

Now then, the restaurants. They should not have too much difficulty getting reservations at the end of that week; most locals are pretty partied out and will be eating out less for a while.

There is a big cheerleading national competition (WSA) in New Orleans on March 12-13. A lot of people will be heading into town on the 10th or 11th so the restaurants will have long waits. Last year when we came for the competition we had difficulty finding a place to seat us.

Jumping in to hijack the thread for a moment...

We'll be in NOLA from March 19th-24th...anything special going on then? I sent for the new visitors guide yesterday...looking forward to seeing it! We have ressies at the Prytania Park Hotel and I know they have more rooms available, so I"m guessing there isn't a whole lot going on during that time?

Wow I didn't realize Mardi Gras was so late this year. That explains all the booked hotels!

I spoke to another friend who had stayed at the Historic Creole Inn on Dauphine St and my friends booked there today for March 10-13.

We will have to check out all the restaurant suggestions. I have heard about Cochon and suggested it to them! They have absolutely no dietary restrictions and love all kinds of food.

Thank You for the suggestions everyone!

The 13th is the Irish Channel Walking Men's parade , sooo much fun , if they can stay another day : ) !! Which reminds me I need to book a room for that weekend. I can get to the quarter in 1.5 hours, so usually we just drive home, this is not a parade that we will drive home afterwards. LOL
