New Orleans - Thoughts and Prayers

Yes, definitely shocking to read. We are headed to NOLA next week and this makes me re-consider plans, although I guess lightning doesn't strike twice. What is wrong with people? Several "vehicle as weapon" incidents recently, the two intentional, horrifying incidents in the NYC subway... I don't understand people anymore. Thinking of the victims, family members, and the people of New Orleans this morning.

I was heartbroken when I read the news. NOLA is a “one tank of gas or less” destination for us and we have a number of friends from the area. We almost always stay in the FQ and have been at the spot of the incident more times than I can count. I know the area had to be packed between the New Year’s and Sugar Bowl crowds. It’s even more unsettling hearing that the vehicle came from the Houston area…like this monster was on our local roads for a while yesterday. My heart goes out to all who were impacted.

We're still waiting to hear back from a couple of friends in the area. Heartbreaking to start the year this way.

I have family in NOLA, and I was very glad to know they weren’t anywhere near the FQ last night. I’m very sad for those who are affected.

Our "daughter" is fine. She and her room mate never go to Bourbon Street anymore.
She has heard from a couple of friends, but waiting to hear from others. One lives in the area and several are performers that were there last night.

We were at a friend’s house last night and were talking about places we have visited. We were in NOLA just last March, and I mentioned that I feel like i left a little piece of my heart there. I have never been to another city that has a whole vibe like it does.

Very scary. Reminds me on when someone drove a truck deliberately into crowd in France. That
was terrible also. Think 80 or so people were killed.

We were on the way to the airport to fly to NOLA when we heard the news. The city is devastated - somber and shocked. As more facts come out, it just gets worse.

My daughter has lived in the FQ for many years but recently is in London for her Master's. She is back home in NOLA right now to practice for the Joan of Arc parade on January 6. She is an angel in that Crewe. She said that the locals are getting together to support each other. My daughter worked in hospitality in the FQ and in the CBD. Her best friend has been an award winning bartender in central FQ. They are all so sad.
