New Orleans Parking MSY

Any advice/experiences with parking at MSY airport in New Orleans? We will be flying out on a Saturday and returning on a Saturday in May. I have read several news articles regarding very limited, and often sold-out, parking at the terminal during the summer months. I do not feel great about leaving my car in an unsecure, uncovered lot for over a week in an unfamiliar area, but it is our only option. Please help me feel better about this!
